Chi

The protagonist of this work. Officially classified as a brown tabby, the fur depicted in the work is not the typical brown tabby color but a grayish hue, placing her in the category of a silver tabby. She was separated from her family and picked up by Yohei and his mom, and a veterinary diagnosis revealed she was a 2-3 month old girl.

Yohei referred to urine as "Chi," which she misunderstood as her own name, leading to her being named "Chi."

Her favorite foods are milk and pancakes (with imitation crab added in the anime). She hates veterinary clinics, dogs, and cars. She is feisty and mischievous, stealing Yohei's pancakes and fighting over toys, but she also gets lonely, waiting for her family to return home while she stays alone, and cries. She gets upset and rejects too much attention, but seeks it when left alone.

She was separated from her biological mother and was nameless before being picked up by the Yamada family, where she was previously named "Sailor."

In the anime, from a human perspective, all of Chi's lines turn into "meow meow," and she speaks "Chi-speak" (e.g., "food" → "emono," "is" → "ra," "unpleasant place" → "yana toko"). The subtitles are colored yellow.
