Kana Kojima

Kana is a beautiful woman with grayish hair that she usually wears in an updo.

She is well-known for her stunningly curvaceous and buxom figure.

When she was younger, she had a more demure appearance, with a shy demeanor and bottle-bottom glasses.

Initially, her gaze was so sharp and intimidating that it made Ichiro's younger sister, Shio, cry.

Publicly, Kana is known as "Kojima the Demon" due to her tomboyish attitude and strict enforcement of school rules.

She is so feared that she was voted number one on the school newspaper's "Scary Teacher Ranking."

In private, however, she is incredibly shy, easily flustered, and a bit of an introvert.

Despite her tough exterior, she worries about being disliked by her students and has even read books on how to become more popular.

She is also a huge klutz, a "d-d-d-ditz" of the highest order, leading to many embarrassing situations.

Kana is surprisingly innocent about adult matters and has some very mistaken ideas about how babies are made.

Her favorite type of man is someone younger who is good at taking care of others and is well-liked by children.

She has a fear of thunder and is an extreme lightweight; a single drop of alcohol will make her completely drunk, so she sticks to cola at parties.

Kana is originally from the same rural hometown as Ichiro Sato and his family.

She has been good friends with Ichiro's mother, Saki, since she was young, viewing her as a senior figure.

Her decision to become a teacher was directly inspired by a chance encounter with a very young Ichiro when she was still a high school student.

At the time, she was a shy girl with glasses, and his innocent encouragement completely changed her path in life.

Kana possesses formidable fighting skills, enough to single-handedly take down an entire group of delinquents who came to her school seeking revenge.

Beyond her surprising combat prowess, she is also an excellent cook.

Ichiro Sato

He is her student and secret boyfriend, who later becomes her fiancé. She frequently finds herself in embarrassing and risqué situations with him. After he graduates, he begins calling her "Kana-san," though he sometimes still calls her "Sensei."

Saki Sato

Ichiro's mother and Kana's close friend from their hometown. Saki is fully aware of their relationship and actively schemes to bring them closer together.

Mayu Matsukaze

The school's art teacher and Kana's best friend since their own student days.

She was the winner of the series' first character popularity poll.

When it comes to reading, she strongly prefers physical paper books over e-books.

Her name is occasionally misspelled by fans with a different kanji character for "jima."

Her anime voice actress, Sumire Uesaka, also performed the opening and ending theme songs for the show.

First Encounters

As the main heroine of the first volume of "Why the hell are you here!?", Kana is introduced as the fearsome "Kojima the Demon."

She constantly runs into her student, Ichiro, in a series of unbelievable and compromising predicaments.

One of the most memorable incidents involved her getting trapped in a stall in the boys' bathroom with Ichiro, as the girls' was out of order.

The stressful situation led to her mortifyingly wetting herself in front of him.

A Shared Past

It is later revealed that Kana and Ichiro had met years earlier when she was still in high school, struggling with her future path.

Ichiro, just a small child at the time, gave her the inspiration she needed to become a teacher, though he initially has no memory of the event.

When he finally remembers and calls her "Nee-chan" (Big Sis) as he did back then, she becomes beet-red with embarrassment.

She also happens to move into an apartment that is only a five-minute walk from Ichiro's home.

After Graduation

An epilogue in the first manga volume shows their life after Ichiro's graduation.

They are in a semi-engaged state, and Kana often visits his apartment, acting as his fiancée. She even goes as far as to place warning labels on his adult magazines.

By the time Ichiro is a second-year university student, a nameplate reading "Sato Kojima" is on their home, indicating they live together, though they are not yet officially married.

Their teacher-student relationship becomes a known, if bewildering, example for other characters contemplating similar romances.

Kana shares many traits with the Disciplinary Committee Chairman from *Aho-Girl*.

Both are voiced by Sumire Uesaka, are known for their large busts, and have a serious but secretly shy personality. Furthermore, King Records was involved in the production of both anime, with Uesaka performing the theme songs for each.
