Fifth Seat of the 11th Division of the Gotei 13.

A narcissist who loves beautiful things. However, he becomes jealous when he sees something truly beautiful (there is a scene in the series where he is jealous of Orihime Inoue). He often acts together with the 3rd Seat of the same division, Ikkaku Madarame.

He is from Rukongai and has known Ikkaku since then. Before becoming a Soul Reaper, he did not have a bob cut but had long hair, and he did not have the flashy extensions on his right eye and eyebrow.

He holds the position of Fifth Seat because of his aesthetic appreciation for the beauty of the character "five."

In truth, he finds the character for "three" the most beautiful, but since the 3rd Seat belongs to Ikkaku, he ceded the position. He also refused the 4th Seat because he did not find the character for "four" beautiful, resulting in him taking the 5th Seat, which resembles "three" the most. (However, there are cases like the 13th Division, where two people, Kiyone Kotetsu and Sentarou Kotsubaki, hold the 3rd Seat, possibly due to the absence of a lieutenant.)

In the final chapter, since Ikkaku was promoted to lieutenant, he finally achieved his long-desired position as the 3rd Seat.

He also appears in the one-shot "The Hell Verse." He went to report the Soul Funeral Festival to Ikkaku, who was training Ichika Abarai at the dojo. Ichika calls him "Chika-san," indicating a good relationship.

At this time, he was not wearing eyelash extensions, and as Ichika said, "You're beautiful today too!" he was truly beautiful, making it worth seeing. (Some readers even mistakenly thought, "Did Ikkaku get married?!")
