Bananya is one of the brands produced by QUALIA, a stationery manufacturer headquartered in Osaka, Japan. QUALIA has past experience with anime adaptations, such as the Shizuku-chan series. Bananya was also adapted into an anime series, which aired as a 1-cour, 13-episode TV anime in the summer of 2016. The anime's narration was handled by the talent and manga artist Yoshikazu Ebisu. All other characters were voiced by Yuki Kaji and Ayumu Murase (with all lines being "nya" only).
Later, in the fall of 2019, a second season titled "Bananya: Fushigi na Nakama-tachi" was broadcast as a short anime within the “Kinder TV” program. For this season, Kana Yuuki took over as the narrator, and the other characters and setting were changed from the previous season.
