Son of the former Great Holy Knight Zaratras. He is the nephew of Dreyfus and cousin to Gilthunder. As a child, he was a timid and pure boy who was fond of Meliodas, but now he is a handsome young man with pink hair, possessing strength second only to the Great Holy Knight. He serves as the bodyguard of the kingdom's first princess, Margaret, and is also her lover. He is affectionately called "Gil" by those close to him, and was called "Gil-boy" by Meliodas in his childhood.

Ten years ago, he was informed of the truth about Zaratras's murder by Margaret, but was discovered by Vivian, who took Margaret hostage and placed him under constant surveillance by her familiar. While searching for a means of escape from Vivian's persistent pursuit, Ludociel appears and severely injures Vivian, allowing him to return to Liones. In the Holy War, he heads to Camelot as part of the assault team to protect Margaret, and after she is freed by Hendrickson, he leaves Camelot with her ahead of the others.
