Shinya Yamakawa

Hiyori's father. He had already passed away by the time the story begins, having died from cancer when Hiyori was still in elementary school.

He was the one who taught Hiyori how to fly fish. He had an eccentric side, becoming obsessed with niche musical instruments and pouring ponzu sauce on fried eggs.

He was slightly overprotective, preferring not to take Hiyori fishing, and it was thanks to his savings that Hiyori was able to get her boat license. He also set aside money for various things, such as the kimono for her coming-of-age ceremony and fishing trips abroad.

He used to prepare the meals for the Yamakawa family.
