Persephone II is the daughter of Persephone I, who is Jashin-chan’s mentor, and the underworld king Hades. She is known as the princess of the underworld and is called “Peru-chan” by friends. Despite her gentle looks, she is a powerful dropkick user—much stronger than Jashin-chan—but she has a very weak body. Because of this, she wanders around Earth wearing a gas mask and is quick to collapse if she breathes unclean air. She has a big heart, makes friends easily, and sometimes shows her sharp tongue, especially when putting Jashin-chan in her place.
Persephone II has a small and cute appearance.
She is about 145–146 cm tall.
She often wears all-black cloaks and a gas mask, which makes her look suspicious to people on Earth.
After living in the human world, Yurine Hanazono picks new clothes for her.
Persephone II is bright, pure-hearted, and cheerful.
She is very innocent and doesn’t judge others for being human, devil, or angel.
She is good at making friends and often reaches out to lonely people like Ecute.
Despite her gentle side, she has a sharp tongue and won't hesitate to tease or talk back to Jashin-chan, especially if Jashin-chan says something mean.
She sometimes goes too far and is a bit out of sync with everyone else.
Persephone II is the only daughter of Hades, the king of the underworld, and Persephone I.
Her birthday is February 14.
Although she is the princess of the underworld, according to Jashin-chan, the underworld only has her family and a three-headed dog.
She came to Earth to find Jashin-chan, bringing her unique look and weakness.
Persephone II is great at using the “dropkick” move—even better than Jashin-chan herself.
However, her weak body makes it dangerous. Sometimes, she coughs up blood or even breaks a leg right after using her move.
She was sent by her mother to teach Jashin-chan the “True Dropkick,” which is a very advanced skill that normally takes 80 years to learn.
She is Jashin-chan’s friend and rival, often putting her down with clever words.
She gets along well with angels like Poporon and is kind to everyone, including humans.
She becomes friends quickly with Ecute, helping her open up to others.
She is cared for by Minos, whose apartment she moves into while trying to build her strength.
Her nickname “Peru-chan” was suggested by Medusa because the formal “Persephone II” didn’t sound girly enough.
Her real name is “Picolette,” which she hides because it’s the name of a toilet air freshener in the underworld. She feels embarrassed about this.
She first appears in the manga’s 84th chapter, while the anime brings her in as early as the second episode.
She often gets in trouble on Earth due to her suspicious appearance, even being taken to the police.
Her father, Hades, also appears by name in another manga by the same author, but as a different character.
“The only thing lamer than me is a devil like Jashin-chan who can only act tough around people younger or weaker than herself.”
Arrival in the Human World
Persephone II travels to Earth, searching for Jashin-chan after Jashin-chan becomes unable to return to the demon world.
Because of her weak body, she wears a gas mask and wanders many places, sometimes getting into trouble because she looks suspicious.
Staying with Minos
After finding Jashin-chan, Persephone II is told by her mother to stay with Minos and try to get stronger.
She joins Minos in morning runs and takes part in her part-time jobs to train her weak body.
Making New Friends
She quickly becomes friends with Poporon, an angel, showing her open heart.
She also helps Ecute, who used to be very shy, make more friends.
Teaching the True Dropkick
Her real mission is to teach Jashin-chan the “True Dropkick.”
Jashin-chan works hard and finally learns the move, but it still does not work perfectly—she cannot knock out Yurine Hanazono with it.
Differences in the Anime
Persephone II appears earlier and more frequently in the anime than she does in the manga.
There is even a scene where she tries to find Jashin-chan in Akihabara and gets questioned by the police.
In a special unaired episode, she is seen finally joining Jashin-chan and the others for a trip to the beach.
The anime does not mention her true purpose for coming to Earth until much later, making it a running joke.
In one video game adapted from the series, she does not appear at all because she and Jashin-chan rarely meet early in the anime.
