Aoi (青井, Aoi) is a participant in the Ghost House death game and one of the six girls forced to take part in the escape-style mansion game. She is a first-time player and is characterized by her extreme timidity and poor social skills.
Aoi has shaggy blue hair and a consistently nervous, withdrawn expression. She is often seen hunching forward, avoiding eye contact, and physically shrinking into herself when surrounded by others. Like the other participants, she is dressed in a classical black-and-white maid outfit, though her posture and behavior make her stand out as especially uneasy within it.
Aoi is extremely shy, anxious, and socially withdrawn. She speaks very little and, when she does, her voice is barely audible. She struggles to assert herself and relies heavily on others for reassurance and safety. She likes reading and knitting.
Background
Aoi reveals that she entered the death game because she "had no other choice," but she provides no further details. Her vague explanation, combined with her poor social skills and lack of confidence, leads Yuki to speculate that Aoi may have been driven to participate due to economic hardship and an inability to survive through conventional employment.
Ghost House
Aoi awakens inside the Ghost House mansion dressed in a maid outfit, alongside five other girls. During introductions, she barely manages to speak, identifying herself as Aoi and stating that this is her first-ever death game. She remains mostly silent throughout group discussions.
As the group begins exploring the mansion under Yuki's guidance, Aoi becomes visibly distressed by the constant danger. After being told not to stray far, she clings tightly to Yuki, staying close to her for reassurance.
Aoi survives the early stages of the game, including the discovery of the dining room key trap that results in Kokuto's death. However, she continues to show signs of overwhelming fear and does not take initiative during decision-making.
Later, the remaining five participants become trapped in a hexagonal chamber containing six levers. When the levers are activated, the room transforms into a deadly minigame: each player is restrained by a handcuff linked to their lever, while saw blades descend from the ceiling.
Yuki manages to free herself using a key and passes the key ring through an opening at the center of the room so the others can escape their restraints. Chaos ensues as the remaining players struggle over the keys. Due to limited time and poor coordination, not everyone is able to free themselves.
Aoi, unable to secure the key in time and lacking the resolve to sacrifice herself as Kinko does, is killed by the descending saw blades. Her death is marked by her first and last loud scream, sharply contrasting her usual near-silence.
After her death, her body is shown to have undergone the game's Preservation Treatment, leaving behind white, cotton-like residue instead of visible blood.
