Tabitha is a student at the Tristain Academy of Magic and a classmate of Louise Françoise Le Blanc de La Vallière.

She comes from Gallia, the neighboring kingdom of Tristain, though few students know she is actually a foreign exchange student.

She is extremely small, even shorter than Louise, and her delicate build makes her look four or five years younger than she really is.

With her blue hair, blue eyes, glasses, and silent manner, she gives off an icy and mysterious impression.

Tabitha rarely speaks and usually spends her time reading alone.

If someone interrupts her reading, she may ignore them, glare at them, or in some cases use magic to remove the disturbance.

At first glance, Tabitha seems emotionless, aloof, and unfriendly.

In truth, she is not empty-hearted at all; she hides intense feelings beneath a calm surface.

She avoids unnecessary social contact and usually does not respond when people she is not close to speak to her.

Her only close friend at the academy at the beginning of the story is Kirche Augusta Frederica von Anhalt Zerbst.

When Kirche brings her trouble, Tabitha helps her in practical ways and often answers with calm, sharp comments.

Although she looks fragile, she has a surprisingly fierce will.

Her silence is less a lack of feeling and more a shield built from grief, danger, and revenge.

Tabitha is a Wind-element Triangle Mage and later grows into a Square-class mage after volume 10.

She is considered an elite student at the academy and has outstanding magical talent.

Her specialty is ice and snow magic created by combining Wind with Water.

At the age of 12, she was already able to use the line spell Javelin.

At only 15, she had already received the noble rank of Chevalier.

Her signature spells include Windy Icicle and Javelin.

Despite her tiny frame, she is extremely fast in close combat.

Because she is light and agile, her pure physical movement can surpass even Wardes in speed.

According to Derflinger, she is the type who avoids head-on clashes and ends battles instantly by exploiting an opening.

Her number of attacks and speed are exceptional, though each individual strike lacks heavy power.

This makes her closer to an assassin-type fighter than a brute-force warrior.

Tabitha has a huge appetite that does not match her tiny body.

When food is served, she usually finishes almost everything placed in front of her.

She especially likes hazel grass salad, a dish with a distinctive bitterness that most people find unpleasant.

Her greatest hobby is reading.

If left alone, she can read all day without stopping.

She also has an unexpected talent for dice gambling, giving her quiet character a sly and amusing edge.

In the anime version, she is afraid of ghosts.

In the original novels, however, this “fear” is presented as an act she uses to attract the attention of someone she likes.

Tabitha’s real name is Charlotte Hélène d’Orléans.

She is a member of the Gallian royal family.

Her father was Charles, Duke of Orléans, the younger brother of King Joseph of Gallia.

This makes King Joseph her uncle.

Her peaceful life was destroyed when Joseph murdered her father.

Her mother was then driven insane by an elven poison and confined in the Orléans family mansion.

The name “Tabitha” comes from a doll her mother gave her before losing her mind.

After the poisoning, her mother came to believe the doll was “Charlotte” and feared her real daughter as an assassin sent by the king.

Unable to approach her mother as Charlotte, she began calling herself Tabitha.

Before these tragedies, she had been cheerful and lively.

After her father’s assassination and her mother’s madness, she shut her heart away and secretly swore revenge against Joseph.

After the fall of her family, Tabitha becomes a knight under Princess Isabella’s Northern Parterre Knights.

Isabella is Joseph’s daughter and Tabitha’s cousin.

Tabitha is then sent to the Tristain Academy of Magic almost as a way of getting rid of her.

Whenever trouble arises, however, she is called back to Gallia.

There, Isabella and Joseph repeatedly force her into dangerous missions designed to get her killed.

Even while burning with hatred for Joseph, Tabitha continues to obey orders and complete her missions.

Her obedience is not loyalty but survival, restraint, and the cold patience of someone waiting for the right moment.

Tabitha begins to develop feelings for Saito Hiraga after he saves her from Joseph’s schemes.

In volume 9, Joseph and his familiar Myoznitnirn force her to betray Saito and the others by using the treatment of her mother as bait.

She is made to assist in the kidnapping of Louise.

During her battle with Saito, however, he reminds her of feelings she had buried deep inside.

Moved by him, she disobeys her orders and sides with Louise and the others.

After Saito later rescues her from captivity, her affection for him becomes even stronger.

Influenced by the childhood story The Hero of Ivaldi, she secretly longed to be a captive princess rescued by a brave hero.

To Tabitha, Saito becomes exactly that kind of hero.

In volume 10, Joseph strips Tabitha of her Chevalier rank and orders her to appear before him.

She goes alone to the Orléans mansion, where she encounters the elf Bidashal.

Bidashal defeats her with ancient magic, and she is taken prisoner.

After being brought before Joseph, she is imprisoned in Alhambra Castle near the border between Gallia and the elves.

There, she is nearly subjected to the same drug that destroyed her mother’s mind.

Saito and the others rescue her before her heart can be erased.

After this incident, Tabitha becomes a little more open.

She speaks more than before and even begins teaching Saito how to read and write by her own choice.

In volume 15, Julio, the familiar of the Romalian pope, manipulates events using a magical doll called Skillnir in Saito’s form.

Under this influence, Tabitha agrees to become Queen of Gallia.

She confronts her enemy King Joseph but chooses not to take revenge.

Realizing that Romalia has been exploiting her love for Saito, she becomes deeply angry.

Even so, she deliberately follows their scheme and inherits the throne, choosing to use the situation rather than simply reject it.

In volume 16, Tabitha captures her fleeing cousin Isabella.

The two later reconcile.

With Isabella’s help as leader of the Northern Parterre Knights, Tabitha prepares for a political struggle against Romalia.

In volume 17, however, Romalia’s plot causes Tabitha to be switched with her twin sister, Josette.

She is rescued in volume 18.

Because Halkeginia faces a major crisis, she temporarily gives both her name and the throne to Josette and chooses to assist Saito and the others.

During this period, she becomes Saito’s maid and begins expressing her feelings more honestly.

After the matter of the Holy Land is settled, Josette abandons the throne in order to be with Julio.

As a result, Tabitha once again becomes Queen of Gallia.

When Saito and Louise marry, Tabitha accepts it with quiet dignity, saying that as long as he is happy, that is enough.

In the fourth anime season, The Familiar of Zero F, Tabitha postpones her coronation by her own decision.

She then arrives at Saito’s estate in Ornières and casually climbs into his bed as if it were perfectly natural.

When the issue of the concubine room creates distance between Saito and Louise, Tabitha openly declares in front of Louise that she will make Saito happy.

Even so, she struggles to find the right moment and cannot quite cross the final line.

After the postponement period ends and Saito and Tiffania are rescued, Tabitha returns to Gallia for her coronation.

She becomes queen, but her feelings for Saito remain unchanged.

Tabitha is the main protagonist of the spin-off work Tabitha’s Adventure.

The series focuses more directly on her missions, her background, and the hidden strength behind her silent personality.

Tabitha stands out as a tiny, book-loving mage whose silence hides royal blood, tragedy, and deadly skill.

Her contrast is striking: she looks like a quiet child with a book, yet she is an elite knight, an ice mage, and eventually a queen.

Her cool “Snow Wind” image, small frame, huge appetite, and secret romantic dream of being rescued by a hero make her both mysterious and unexpectedly charming.

In fan works, she is often associated with similar quiet, emotionless-looking heroines such as Yuki Nagato.

During the era when The Familiar of Zero was especially popular, characters like Tabitha were often grouped with the broader “Rei Ayanami-type” silent heroine archetype.
