By kissing Kouta, Chizuru can enter a state known as fox possession.
During this process, her body disappears completely into Kouta, leaving only her clothes behind, and Kouta gains fox ears, a tail, and whiskers.
In this form, Chizuru's spiritual power rises far beyond its normal limits.
The increase is so dramatic that she can overwhelm enemies who would otherwise be impossible to defeat through ordinary means.
Because her physical body temporarily vanishes during the process, certain cursed items that cannot normally be removed become ineffective.
This allows her to escape restraints and immediately counterattack, such as when she breaks free from the spider-woman's curse and finishes the enemy with fox-fire.
Fox possession is said to require deep mutual trust between the two participants.
For that reason, Kouta succeeding on the first attempt is considered almost miraculous, something that leaves Chizuru quite pleased with herself.
Six-Tail Fusion
During the battle against the Nue, Chizuru performs an even stronger possession fusion in a six-tailed state.
The spiritual energy released from this form is so intense that it erases the mass of supernatural beings advancing beyond the school grounds.
This marks one of her most overwhelming demonstrations of power in the story.
It also foreshadows the greater secrets hidden within her body and origin.
