During freshman year, she nearly quit when many classmates left the band, but Kaori Nakaseko inspired her to stay.

She and fellow trumpet Tomoe Kabe even formed a “Kaori Fan Club.”

Yuuko befriended Mizore after the mass club dropout incident.

Even though Mizore's closest friend is Nozomi, Yuuko’s encouragement is important for her.

Reina Kousaka

Yuuko was Yukari’s rival in the trumpet solo audition, fiercely defending Kaori at first.

Over time, Yuuko grew to respect Reina’s talent and supported her as a bandmate.

Kumiko Oumae

At first, Yuuko was wary of Kumiko because of her closeness to Reina.

Later, Yuuko started trusting Kumiko, especially in solving club problems.

Tomoe Kabe

Yuuko and Tomoe started as mentor-mentee and soon became close friends.

Tomoe helps Yuuko with club duties, especially when Yuuko becomes band president.

Nozomi Kasaki

Yuuko and Nozomi were friends since middle school but clashed when Nozomi left the band without telling Mizore.

After things calmed down, Yuuko, Nozomi, Mizore, and Natsuki formed a close four-person group.

Asuka Tanaka

Yuuko looks up to Asuka’s leadership and tries to follow her example as president, though she feels a bit inferior compared to Asuka.

Middle School Days

Yuuko joined Minami Middle School’s band wanting to play an instrument and picked the trumpet because it looked cool.

She quickly became a leader in the band.

They tried hard at competitions, but lost at the Kyoto tournament, leaving Yuuko deeply disappointed.

First Year at Kitauji High

Yuuko joined Kitauji’s band, but didn’t like how lazy the older students were.

She almost quit when most of her grade left the band, but Kaori convinced her to stay.

She cared for Mizore, who mourned her friend Nozomi leaving, and bonded with Tomoe as “Kaori’s guardians.”

Kyoto Competition and the Trumpet Solo

As a second-year, Yuuko faced the arrival of new students and a new strict advisor, Noboru Taki.

When Reina Kousaka won the trumpet solo part over Kaori, Yuuko was angry and argued fiercely with Reina, defending Kaori.

After seeing Kaori’s strength and Reina’s real skills, Yuuko finally accepted the outcome.

Nationals and Becoming President

Kitauji band made it to the nationals, and Yuuko’s confidence grew.

She became close to Kumiko and supported Mizore and Nozomi through their troubles.

After the seniors graduated, Yuuko was chosen as the next band president.

Leading the Band and Facing Challenges

As president, Yuuko worked hard to keep the large band together.

She sometimes struggled with asking for help, trying to carry everything herself.

She set a goal: “Gold at Nationals.”

Despite bonding the club well, Kitauji narrowly missed winning a spot at Nationals in her last year.

After Graduation

Yuuko went to college with Natsuki and Nozomi and started living alone.

She formed a girls’ band, playing guitar and singing.

She cheers for her old band and later helps with their training before moving on.

Yuuko likes sweet foods and drinks, especially croquettes with sweet potato.

She is a sore loser and likes competing, especially at card games.

Yuuko pushes her friends, is fiercely loyal, and never lies about her feelings.

Even after graduation, she continues to visit Kitauji and help the next generation of band members.

Her dream is to keep playing music, either on trumpet or guitar.
