Toshio Saitou

Shuuichi's father. He stopped going to work and obsessively collected spiral-shaped objects, but later, believing that "spirals are something one creates," he twisted his own body into a spiral shape inside a barrel and died. After his death, the smoke from his cremation formed a spiral and was drawn into Dragonfly Pond, causing the same phenomenon to occur with the smoke from all subsequent cremations. He becomes the first victim of the spiral curse in the story.
