Norma Selner

Norma is a middle-aged woman with dark skin, curly black hair, and bright turquoise eyes. In her first appearance, she wore a large hat and a cream-colored jacket over a white blouse and a business skirt.

Norma is polite and friendly, and is implied to have a taste for cake. She is also loyal to her country and was happy to use her unique powers to recruit droves of foreign S-Rank Hunters for the American government over the years.

Back before the Rulers began spawning gates in the human world, Norma worked as a fortune-teller. Her eventual awakening gave her two unique powers, upgrading and precognition, and after her rare skillset was discovered by the government, she was given a spot in the Bureau and spent the next decade recruiting particularly powerful S-Rank Hunters from foreign countries over to the USA by offering them greater power through her upgrading ability. One of these hunters was Hwang Dong soo, who accepted her offer without a second thought.

Recruitment Arc

After Sung Jinwoo cleared the Jeju Island S-Rank Gate all by himself, Michael Connor, the Bureau's Deputy Director, attempted to bribe him over to America by offering to have Norma upgrade his powers. However, when Norma attempted to use her upgrading ability on him, not only did it fail to work, but it also caused her to see something inside his soul that petrified her. After Jinwoo left the room and headed home, Norma, who was still terrified by what she saw, then informed Michael that Jinwoo's powers had no limits, meaning that her abilities wouldn't work on him.

Final Battle Arc

At the time of the Monarchs invasion of North America, at Jinwoo's request, Norma met with the young hunter. Using her sight, she saw that Jinwoo was not the same person she had first met, as before the darkness she saw just dwelled inside him, now he had become one with it. Despite this accurate description of himself, Jinwoo assured the psychic that he was still the same person. Jinwoo asked Norma to see his future, which she obliged. After briefly holding his hand, Norma began to cry, seeing that Jinwoo intended to sacrifice himself and shoulder the burden of the world unto himself. Norma felt immense sympathy for the hunter, as she believed such a future was too cruel for one person to bear. Upon seeing her reaction, Jinwoo stated he was relieved as it indicated that he would succeed in his future, to Norma's disbelief as she pleaded him to reconsider as if he did what he planned then he would be forgotten. But Jinwoo thanked her for her assistance as he used Shadow Exchange and disappeared.

Whilst the hunters and armies of the Monarchs raged across America, Norma was seen with David observing the battles from a distance. David lamented on the hopelessness of the situation, but Norma reminded her companion that Jinwoo was not their only hunter, that hunters from all across the globe have gathered together to fight against the surmounting threat. From the E-Rank to S-Rank hunters, Norma understood that the hunters knew how hopeless they felt in the face of the insurmountable. Even though many of them would fall, she still had hope of a future.

Epilogue

After the Rulers used the Cup of Reincarnation one last time per Jinwoo's request, Norma lost all her memories of the original timeline and was converted into an ordinary fortune-teller. However, despite the fact that she never came into contact with Jinwoo over the next two years, his powers somehow amplified her own, allowing her to regain her precognitive abilities and making her a living legend due to how the visions she saw of the future never failed to come true.

In the new timeline, Norma would play a role in saving Thomas Andre's life, resulting in them becoming friends. Supposedly after Norma made a prophecy about the return of the God of Death, which coincided with Jinwoo's return after a 27 year sojourn in dimensional space in hunting down the Monarchs, in which only 2 years passed on Earth, he met with the fortuneteller when he went abroad to the USA and presumably she became aware of the original timeline.

When an invasion of rock beings was thwarted by Jinwoo in the desert of the USA, CIA Director David Brennon went to Norma's home in order to gain more information of the young man. Norma who was having her grandson over along with Thomas, did not provide any concrete information claiming she had lost her abilities since meeting with the God of Death. She advised David to cease his investigation as the one he was seeking was not an enemy of humanity and that this was not the first time he had saved the world. This was enough for David and he left after being given a packet of homemade cookies.

Ragnarok

After some decades had passed, and the occurrence of the Great Cataclysm, Norma somehow regained her abilities.

Unlike the previous timeline, where Norma’s existence was a national secret in the USA, due to her prior publicity as a famous seer, her abilities were an established fact throughout the world.

Pyramid Arc

At some point, Norma made a prophecy that a tomb would appear possessing the power to raise the dead. She passed this knowledge to Thomas, and shortly later the Pyramid Field appeared in Egypt.

Preparation Arc

Through her visions, she saw that Sung Suho was necessary to clear the Glacier Dungeon on Facade Island. To ensure that the dungeon was clear she sent Thomas to Korea to solicit Suho's help, and passed a message that a clue to his missing mother Cha Hae-In could be found in the dungeon.
