Benpatsu is distinguished by his shaved head with a long braided queue, giving him a rough, delinquent-like look.

He carries himself with swagger when backed by a group, but his bravado quickly collapses when faced with overwhelming power or real monsters.

He tends to follow stronger villains or bullies, showing a cowardly streak when his life is truly at risk.

Despite having trained in Kokudoryu, he is easily intimidated and gives up quickly when outmatched.

Benpatsu is a practitioner of Kokudoryu, a harsh, ruthless martial arts style.

The style emphasizes raw aggression and overwhelming opponents rather than refined technique.

Even so, his actual combat ability is fairly low by series standards.

He is knocked out by professional heroes and defeated instantly by stronger martial artists.

Dojo Raider and Encounter with Bang

In the bonus chapter “Shrimp” from the remake illustrated by Murata, Benpatsu appears as part of a dojo-raiding group.

This group travels around the city shutting down martial arts dojos by defeating their members.

Benpatsu and his comrades visit Bang’s dojo intending to challenge and humiliate it.

However, they arrive while Saitama and Genos are coincidentally there, simply to eat hot pot.

Saitama and Genos quickly defeat Benpatsu’s comrades with no effort, leaving him stunned and speechless.

When Bang exerts his killing intent, Benpatsu is completely overwhelmed by the pressure and retreats without a fight.

Loss to Sneck

In his first tournament showing, Benpatsu faces the hero Sneck in the ring.

He is knocked out by Sneck and suffers a clear loss, showing that even a relatively low-ranking hero is far above his level.

Monster Association Arc and Forced Monsterization

Later, when monsters appear and begin attacking, Benpatsu is one of the first fighters to run away from the danger.

His attempt to flee fails when he encounters Gouketsu, a powerful monster and former champion.

Gouketsu defeats Benpatsu effortlessly and drags him back to the tournament venue as a captive.

There, Gouketsu forces captured fighters to choose between eating monster cells or being killed.

Under the threat of immediate death, Benpatsu gives in and eats a monster cell.

He transforms into a monster, with his cruelty and Kokudoryu style amplified by the mutation.

Fight Against Suiryu

After his transformation, Benpatsu’s exact disaster level is never stated and remains unknown.

Acting on Gouketsu’s orders, he joins the attack on Suiryu, the top tournament fighter.

Despite his new monstrous form, Benpatsu is casually and quickly defeated by Suiryu.

His power as a monster is still insignificant compared to elite martial artists.

Capture and Experiments by the Hero Association

Following the conflict, Benpatsu is captured alive by the Hero Association.

He is selected as a test subject in experiments designed to separate monster cells from human bodies.

During these procedures, his measured data refuses to stabilize and fluctuates wildly.

The strain proves too much for him, and he loses consciousness during the experiment.
