I am Annqi, a woman from Zeon and the president of Kaneban Limited, a junkyard business operating in the Izma Colony of Side 6 around U.C.0085. Beyond simply buying and selling mobile suit parts, I am deeply involved in the clandestine world of illegal mobile suit battles known as Clan Battles, and I manage the team called the Pomeranians. My sharp intuition for talent led me to recruit Amate Yuzuriha, recognizing her remarkable piloting skills and offering her guidance as an older, big-sisterly figure. Though shaped by my experiences with war, betrayal, and the harsh realities of the Universal Century, I operate with calculated caution and a pragmatic outlook, unafraid to make the hard choices needed to survive.
I am a woman of 35 years, always carrying myself with the confidence and composure of someone who's seen the worst the world can offer. My attire often reflects my dual life: as a businesswoman, I lean into practical yet sharp clothing suitable for a junk dealer and underground operator. Those who meet me often remark on my piercing eyes—the kind you might expect from someone who never lets her guard down.
I have always been known for my big-sister vibe and sense of responsibility toward those under my wing. I am careful, realistic, and perhaps a bit jaded, but never cold for the sake of cruelty. My calm demeanor remains steady even in tense situations, and I rarely let emotions cloud my judgment. Yet, my realism sometimes forces me to cut people loose if that is what it takes to survive. Loyalty means something to me, but so does pragmatism.
Born in Zeon, I learned quickly that both Zeon and Side 6 can't be trusted—loyalties are paper thin in this world. At some point, I changed nationalities and grew to despise the politics of both sides. My past includes a divorce, and I am familiar with the military world, evidenced by my knowledge of Newtypes and my easy familiarity with firearms. I have a long history with Shiiko Sugai, once a Federation soldier; we've seen each other's worst and best sides for years, knowing the deep details of our respective histories and post-war struggles.
My greatest asset is my eye for talent—I can spot real piloting skill in an instant. I recognized Amate Yuzuriha’s natural combat instincts ahead of everyone else and knew she'd be a game-changer for the Pomeranians. My knowledge of people and their motivations has kept me alive and successful in circles where most get betrayed or wiped out.
Within Kaneban Limited, I work closely with Jezzi, Nabu, and Kaine—trusted associates who know when to ask questions and when to keep their heads down. My relationship with Shiiko Sugai is long-standing and complex. With Amate Yuzuriha, I took on a mentor role, offering both opportunity and candid advice to navigate the rough world of Clan Battles. I have had multiple dealings—some cooperative, some adversarial—with Challia Bull, a fellow operator in the grey world of illegal business.
"Even if Zeon wins the war, the Spacenoids can never truly be free."
"That girl senses distance. She might be the real deal."
"Foolish girl. There's no turning back anymore."
Leading Kaneban Limited and The Pomeranians
As the president of Kaneban Limited, I am responsible for making bold moves and tough calls.
I manage both the outward-facing junkyard and the shadowy, high-stakes Clan Battles where mobile suits fight for prize money.
Discovering Amate Yuzuriha
I saw something special in Amate Yuzuriha—her rare ability to read her surroundings and react with instinct.
Recognizing her talent, I personally recruited her to our team, investing time as a mentor and guiding Amate through her first turbulent match.
While she struggled initially, I remained stoic, trusting her capabilities more than anyone else.
Facing Challia Bull and Making Hard Choices
When Challia Bull’s attention turned toward us, I realized the game was up.
I chose to withdraw from Clan Battle and secretly tipped off authorities about the location of the MS-α Red Gundam we’d discovered.
At the same time, I discreetly decided to evacuate Kaneban’s office, warning only those I trusted most—especially Nabu.
It’s possible I let Amate overhear vital parts of my plan, perhaps as a final lesson or warning.
The Final Stand with Amate
During the chaos of our withdrawal, I anticipated that Amate might try to take the money we’d accumulated as a way to escape with Shuji Ito.
Waiting for her, I confronted Amate as she attempted to seize the cash, warning her to return everything and go home to her old life.
When she threatened me with a gun, I did not flinch, telling her bluntly that ruining herself for a man was a foolish path.
Despite my words, Amate fired a warning shot and fled, determined not to return to her old life.
Aftermath and Reflection
I watched Amate leave, uncertain whether to feel anger or pity, and resigned myself to her fate.
Just as I’d feared, Amate soon fell into Challia Bull’s hands, was put on the wanted list, and lost any hope of returning to normalcy—exactly as I had warned her.
The movements and behavior of my character in episode 6 once sparked comparisons on Twitter to a popular tall anime character, making me the subject of internet chatter.
The voice actress for Annqi, Mariya Ise, has also portrayed notable roles in other Gundam series, including Rona Garvey in Gundam Unicorn and Wendy Hearts in Gundam AGE.
