Character Setting

Edit

Yu Hojo is a male villain affiliated with the organization Shie Hassaikai, serving as one of the Eight Bullets and acting as a frontline enforcer under Kai Chisaki.

Name: Yu Hojo

Gender: Male

Affiliation: Shie Hassaikai – Eight Bullets

Quirk: Crystal

Personality: Calm, composed

Voice Actor (Japanese): Kenichiro Matsuda

A tagline associated with him describes him as a man whose unbreakable bonds are no counterfeit, and whose pride is as hard as his full-body crystal armor.

Yu Hojo is a member of the Eight Bullets, an elite combat unit within the designated villain organization Shie Hassaikai.

He acts as a “hitman” or expendable enforcer, deployed to obstruct pro heroes and buy time for the organization’s leadership.

He stands out visually with a clean-shaven, bald head and a standard medical-style mask.

Unlike many of his comrades, he does not wear the plague doctor–style mask that is iconic for the group.

Hojo is generally calm and level-headed, rarely losing his composure in battle.

He fights with a cool, focused mindset, relying on teamwork and tactical coordination rather than flashy solo heroics.

Despite his composed nature, his past leaves him with deep-seated insecurity about his own worth.

Because his Quirk-generated crystals turned out to be financially worthless, he once believed that he himself had no value.

This emotional wound makes him fiercely loyal to Kai Chisaki, who “picked him up” when he felt discarded by society.

Hojo sees Chisaki as someone who gave him and his comrades a reason to live, and he repays that act with unwavering devotion.

He is close to Toya Setsuno and Soramitsu Tabe, with whom he shares his backstory and sense of being “leftovers” taken in by Chisaki.

Among the three, Hojo tends to serve as the main finisher during their coordinated attacks.

Yu Hojo is characterized by his shaved head, which gives him a stark, intimidating look.

He typically wears a simple, ordinary mask rather than the birdlike plague masks favored by other Shie Hassaikai members.

This contrast makes him visually distinct within the group, emphasizing his role as someone slightly “off-template” from the rest of the organization.

Combined with his ability to encase himself in crystal, he often appears on the battlefield as a gleaming, armored figure.

Crystal

Hojo’s Quirk, Crystal, allows him to generate hard crystal structures from his body.

These crystals possess considerable durability, functioning as both offense and defense.

He can coat himself in crystal like armor, significantly increasing his toughness and resistance to damage.

In addition, he can shape the crystals offensively, using them for close-range strikes or as powerful protrusions.

The crystals he produces have no monetary value and are considered “fake” or worthless as gemstones.

This lack of financial value is central to his tragic past, as it led those exploiting him to see him as useless once they realized they could not profit from his ability.

Despite their worthlessness as jewels, the crystals excel in combat applications.

They possess high hardness and durability, making Hojo a formidable threat in both attack and defense when fully armored.

Before joining Shie Hassaikai, Hojo’s Quirk drew the attention of a greedy money-obsessed individual.

This person saw his ability to produce crystal-like structures as a potential gold mine and used him purely as a tool for profit.

When it was discovered that his crystals were counterfeit in terms of financial value, the illusion shattered.

Deemed worthless as a “resource,” Hojo was brutally beaten and discarded once he failed to produce real, sellable gemstones.

This experience crushed his sense of self-worth.

He came to believe that, like his crystals, he himself was a fake with no value in the world.

At that lowest point, Kai Chisaki brought him into Shie Hassaikai.

Chisaki’s acceptance and utilization of Hojo’s combat potential made Hojo feel “rescued” and given a new purpose.

Yu Hojo, Toya Setsuno, and Soramitsu Tabe were all shaped by similar experiences of being used and thrown away.

Because of this, the three share a strong sense of camaraderie and mutual understanding, building a bond that Hojo considers genuine rather than counterfeit.

Hojo’s main strength lies in his full-body crystal armor and powerful finishing attacks.

In coordinated battles with Setsuno and Tabe, he often takes the role of primary striker and executioner.

When fully coated in crystal, he becomes a walking fortress, able to withstand heavy punishment from pro heroes.

He combines this durability with aggressive, close-range assaults, turning his crystalline body into a living weapon.

Within his three-man cell, the synergy is impressive.

Each member covers the others’ weaknesses, allowing Hojo to unleash his strongest attacks at critical moments.

Their teamwork is strong enough to pressure even pro-level opponents.

As a result, Hojo is far more dangerous when fighting alongside Setsuno and Tabe than when acting alone.

During the raid on Shie Hassaikai’s headquarters, pro heroes and police units move in to dismantle the organization and rescue Eri.

While the main attacking force drives deeper into the compound, Hojo, Setsuno, and Tabe are assigned to delay the intruders.

The trio positions themselves in a large hall to lie in wait.

Their mission is to stall the heroes and buy time for Kai Chisaki to carry out his plans.

Tamaki Amajiki, operating under the hero name Sun Eater, confronts the three villains in this hall.

What follows is a fiercely coordinated battle, with the trio using their combined abilities to overwhelm Tamaki at first.

Hojo’s crystal armor and powerful strikes form the core of their offensive.

Tabe’s devouring abilities and Setsuno’s skills help support and set up openings, highlighting their deadly synergy.

Despite the overwhelming pressure, Tamaki refuses to back down.

By pushing his Quirk to its limits and using his own ingenuity, he manages to adapt and fight back.

In the end, Tamaki Amajiki defeats Yu Hojo, Toya Setsuno, and Soramitsu Tabe.

After their defeat, the three are apprehended and taken into police custody, their role in the raid effectively concluded.
