Kurono Shinguuji is the strong, smart, and cool-headed chairwoman of Hagun Academy. She’s a former world-class magical knight, known as the “World Clock,” famous for her rare power to control time. Once ranked third in the world, she retired from fighting to start a family. Now, she leads her school with big changes, mentors promising students, and is said to be one of the strongest characters in the story’s world—even able to fight alongside the legendary Edelweiss.

Kurono is intelligent, confident, and fair. She makes bold choices and cares deeply about her students at Hagun Academy. Kurono was once a famous magical knight with the nickname “World Clock.” She became well known after ranking third in the world league KOK (King of King). Kurono is originally from Hagun Academy and was a top student there. During her school years, she had a strong rivalry with Nene Saikyou. The two competed in a legendary match at the Seven Stars Sword Art Festival, known as the first fight between two A-rank knights in Japan. Their fight was so intense that it was stopped and declared void.
She soon moved on to the pro leagues, where her rivalry with Nene continued to push them both to their limits. However, when Kurono met and formed a relationship with her future husband, Takumi Shinguuji, she decided that being with her family mattered more than becoming stronger. She then retired from fighting after getting married and having a child. Her maiden name is Takizawa.
Kurono later became chairwoman of Hagun Academy. She led a big reform at the school, including ending the old ranking-based selections and starting a tournament system.
Kurono is a master of “Exceeding Blade Arts” (Sword Arts) and uses two special handguns called "Propator" and "Ennoia." Her rare power lets her control time itself. She can stop time around her, rewind time to fix destroyed things, and even protect people in serious danger.

Kurono is married to Takumi Shinguuji and is a mother. Her main rival is Nene Saikyou, a bond formed since their academy days. She supports promising students, such as Ikki Kurogane, whom she allows to enroll and graduate under a special promise. She also remains good friends with Yuuri Oreki, the teacher who first accepted Ikki.
Becoming a Legend
Kurono shines as a super-talented knight, using her time powers and gun skills to achieve world-level fame. She shapes history with her fight alongside Nene Saikyou at the Seven Stars Sword Art Festival. Their battle is so wild that it ends with both stopped by Ryouma Kurogane and Torajirou Nangou.
Leaving the Battlefield
After her big matches and joining the pros, Kurono and Nene challenge each other again and again. Both get close to the limits of human strength and stand on the edge of becoming “Majin.” Right before awakening to even more power, Kurono chooses her relationship with Takumi Shinguuji over unbeatable strength, refusing to lose the warmth and memories she treasures.
A New Beginning as Chairwoman
As chairwoman of Hagun Academy, Kurono reforms a failing school, bringing in a fresh tournament system. She offers Ikki Kurogane a chance to prove himself and become a true knight. Even after retiring, she trains hard, staying much stronger than nearly all current students and staff.
Ultimate Awakening
In volume 18, when danger strikes and she must defeat 200 enemies at once, Kurono finally becomes a “Majin.” It’s said that now she stands shoulder to shoulder with Edelweiss, the other strongest in the world.
Supporting the Greater Good
Outside of battles, Kurono uses her time-based skills to save lives and fix buildings during emergencies, showing she values people’s safety above all.
