Takae Niijima

The heroine. Keisuke's late wife. Despite having low blood pressure, she was devoted and made lunch for Keisuke every morning. However, she was also straightforward and expressed her opinions clearly, leaving Keisuke unable to argue with her. She passed away in a traffic accident 10 years ago. Through reincarnation, she was reborn as "Marika Shiraishi." In the Shiraishi household, she was neglected by her mother, Chika, in a single-parent family. However, when she passed by the Niijima household, her memories from her past life returned, and she regained the consciousness of "Takae Niijima," leading her to start interacting with the Niijima family. In front of Keisuke and Mai, she expressed her opinions confidently, wrote "Magnolia" in beautiful calligraphy during calligraphy class, and often made remarks that seemed beyond her elementary school age, such as commenting on her classmates' childish (or pointless) antics. Her friends at school noticed a slight change in her impression from "Marika Shiraishi."

In Volume 10, she temporarily lost her memories as Takae, and her personality reverted to that of an elementary school student. After visiting the grave, Keisuke was told by the temple priest that she was not a reincarnation but possessed by two personalities. Reincarnation is described as "resetting everything once and starting anew to learn." Since Marika originally had no acquaintance with Keisuke and others, when her personality reverted, she suddenly burst into tears in fear upon seeing them on the street, causing a police incident. However, she later gained Chika's understanding, and interactions developed between Keisuke and others as the "Shiraishi family."

Later, Takae's personality reappeared, but even as Takae, she continued to struggle with the fact that she couldn't remain this way forever. In the end, she was satisfied and passed on after seeing Keisuke propose to Yoshimi with an engagement ring (which was actually a lie), and Takae's personality completely disappeared. Before passing on, Takae left a letter for Chika and compiled the events that occurred while she 'possessed' Marika's body into a notebook for Marika.
