Ramza Beoulve, also known as Ramza Lugria, is the main protagonist in Final Fantasy Tactics. He is a member of the respected House Beoulve, a renowned military family in Ivalice. The youngest son of Barbaneth Beoulve, who led the Order of the Northern Sky in the Fifty Years' War, Ramza grew up alongside Delita Heiral as a knight apprentice. Though a hero of the War of the Lions, his name was erased from official records and his heroism unknown until the Durai Papers were found centuries later.
Initially motivated to uphold his family name due to feeling out of place next to his half-brothers, Zalbaag (commander of the Northern Sky) and Dycedarg (strategist to Duke Larg), Ramza first fought for the order against the Corpse Brigade. As the events that followed led to the War of the Lions, Ramza became disillusioned with the order and unraveled a scheme behind the war, which he led his company to end. Ramza upheld a strong moral compass and sense of justice.
Ramza's default job is a specialized version of the squire with access to a broader range of equipment and abilities, as well improved stat growth. This version evolves into his unique Gallant Knight job in The Ivalice Chronicles. As the main protagonist of Final Fantasy Tactics, he will never leave the party and is a mandatory deployment in story battles.
