Character Setting

Edit

Satomi Amazon is a remarkable racehorse from Funabashi, known for his striking blue-black coat and fierce determination. As a local champion, he challenged the top horses in central racing, capturing the hearts of many fans with his gutsy performances. He is famous for his signature mask and blinkers, as well as his unique racing style of marking the strongest opponents and overtaking them at the very last moment, earning him the nickname "Hitman." His rivalry, fighting spirit, and deep pride in being a local horse make Satomi Amazon a true hero in both the racing world and the story.

Satomi Amazon is a blue-black (almost black) horse with a beautiful, shining coat.

He often wore a unique face mask (menko) and blinkers during races, which became his trademark.

During the Kikka Sho, he removed these for the first time, revealing his true form to the world.

Satomi Amazon has a strong sense of pride as a local (regional) racehorse.

He carries both courage and a bit of a short temper, especially when it comes to talking about the central racing world.

He never wants to be looked down upon as a "second-tier" horse and always strives to prove the strength of local horses.

Despite his toughness, Satomi Amazon also has a charismatic side, inspiring and caring for the horses around him.

He never gives up, even when facing stronger or more famous rivals.

Satomi Amazon is the son of Mill George and Amazon Fruit.

He comes from the Funabashi Masaki Stable and is a locally trained horse.

After winning 10 out of 10 races in local competitions, he aimed for the central classics to show that local horses are not just secondary.

His dream was always to make Funabashi and other local race tracks famous by winning against the top horses from the central tracks.

He is best known for his clever racing style.

He follows strong horses closely, then rushes past them right at the finish line.

Satomi Amazon is also capable of using a powerful "escape" (front-running) style, shown in the Kikka Sho.

His natural speed and precise judgment make him a tough opponent.

He can be both tactical and surprisingly strong, adapting his racing style as needed.

His father, Mill George, is a real-life famous racehorse.

Satomi Amazon is the only character in the series based on a real-life horse's offspring.

At Funabashi Racecourse, a mini-museum displayed Satomi Amazon as a "hero horse" who made the place famous.

In the anime's final episode, he is shown racing in the Arima Kinen (Grand Prix) at age five.

He is known as both "The Hitman" and "The Miracle of South Funabashi."

He has a famous son named Amazon Spirit, who went on to win many major races.

"You guys... Is running in the central tracks really that great?"

"Then what does that make Funabashi... what does that make all of us locals?"

"Are local horses really just the second team for the central tracks?!"

"Are you jealous of Oguri Cap?"

"When local horses go to the central races and do well, is that really moving up?"

"The people here want to see me beat the central horses..."

"But do any of us really want to leave for the central tracks? Are we being trained just to go there?"

"No, that's not it. The real goal of racing here is to show how strong we are as local horses."

"Is it better to lose quietly and accept second place...?"

"What am I even thinking..."

"Second place or last place, losing is still losing."

"A real race is only about winning or losing."

"Is losing big really that embarrassing? Running away from the race is even worse!"

"Let's bring the crowds to Funabashi... let's show them all!"

Racing with Pride

Satomi Amazon starts his career at Funabashi, quickly winning ten straight races.

People start to say that local races are just for losers, but Satomi Amazon refuses to believe it.

He enters the central races, determined to prove local power.

The Classic Races

His first big try is the Yayoi Sho.

Even though Morriaror blocks him, Satomi Amazon grabs second place.

In the Satsuki Sho, he carefully marks his rival, Midori Makibaō.

Chaos breaks out thanks to the Amago Wakuchin's surprise plan, and Satomi Amazon fights hard but finishes third.

The Japanese Derby Challenge

In the Japanese Derby (Tokyo Yūshun), he tries to keep an eye on Cascade.

Cascade and Midori Makibaō are locked in a chase, so Satomi Amazon tries to sneak a win.

At the end, Cascade's powerful move leaves Satomi Amazon in fourth place.

New Strategy at the Kikka Sho

With nothing to lose, Satomi Amazon shocks everyone in the Kikka Sho.

He removes his signature mask and blinkers and returns to his original escape (front-running) style.

Though Amago Wakuchin overtakes him once, Satomi Amazon fights back, finishing a close second.

Life After the Main Story

After the Kikka Sho, he returns to local racing, where he wins big races like the Teio Sho, Mile Championship Southern Cup, and Tokyo Daishoten.

He nearly gets a chance to race in the Dubai World Cup but can't due to other horses' arrivals and his own tight schedule.

He becomes a local racing hero, racing until the retirement age of 10.

He then goes on to become a breeding stallion.

The Next Generation

In the sequel, "Taiyo no Makibao," Satomi Amazon's son, Amazon Spirit, rises as a star.

Amazon Spirit wins huge races, making his father's old dream come true by triumphing in both local and central classic races.

Satomi Amazon is often remembered for his passionate speeches about pride in local racing.

He inspired both fans and fellow horses to believe that local horses can be just as strong as anyone.

Satomi Amazon remains one of the most legendary horses in both his story world and in the hearts of readers.
