Jacques Neckel

Minister of Finance. Although born a commoner, he rose to prominence as a renowned Swiss banker. Amidst a severe national financial crisis, he proposed reforms to the monarchy by convening the Estates-General. However, his plan to impose harsh taxes on the privileged classes backfired, leading to his downfall at the hands of Marie Antoinette. In the anime adaptation, his dramatic fall is exploited as part of Maximilien de Robespierre’s schemes, adding new turmoil to the story. Meanwhile, his daughter, Madame de Staël, appears in "Glory of Napoleon," where her own drama unfolds.
