Lovepon is a 15-year-old female junior high student and one of the 30 people visiting the mysterious Nanaki Village in The Lost Village. She often says the word "execution," and is obsessed with removing evil from the group, even to the point of wanting to torture or harm others. Her aggressive attitude comes from a traumatic upbringing filled with violence. Lovepon's relationship with her mother and her mother’s abusive monk lover has left deep emotional scars. This trauma makes her quick to see others as threats and react in extreme ways. Despite her dangerous side, she has a striking contrast between her cute looks and her broken personality, making her a character that stands out.

In the manga, it is suggested that Lovepon herself was attacked by the monk, and when she told her mother, her mother blamed and hit her out of jealousy.

She quickly becomes obsessed with punishing those she suspects.

At one point, she shows interest in torture and even tries to rip off Mitsumune’s nails.

She also thinks about torturing Jack and even killing him.

Effects of Past Trauma

Much of Lovepon’s behavior comes from the abuse she and her mother received from the monk.

Their home was filled with violence—both physical and emotional.

Her mother would get angry and violent, especially when Lovepon told her about the monk’s attacks.

Lovepon’s trigger is the label on the monk’s favorite sake, which was decorated with a huge “hannya” demon face.

This demon face appears in her nightmares as her “Nanaki”—the thing she fears most.

Comic Version Differences

In the manga, it’s explained that Lovepon was directly attacked by the monk, and her mother became even more violent when she found out.

There is some doubt about how much is true, as some scenes suggest Lovepon could have lied just to get the monk away from her mother.

The word “execution” is something Lovepon’s mom used to scream, with a twisted, angry face like the hannya mask.

In her fears, Lovepon’s Nanaki appears as the hannya face with her mother’s hands and feet.

Chasing Yura Mikage
