During this battle, he awakens his unique skill Reckless Soul (Ban’yū Kakusei).

Recognizing his potential, the S‑rank party Orichalcum Fist takes him in and subjects him to two years of hellish training.

Training Under Orichalcum Fist

For two years Rick trains under Broughston Ashorc and the rest of Orichalcum Fist.

The training is so extreme that simply remembering it can send him into a disturbed or semi‑hysterical state, functioning as a major trauma.

However, this same training is what allows him to survive as an adventurer despite his initially terrible magical capacity.

Through this regimen he builds up overwhelming physical ability, combat experience, and control over his unique skill.

He understands that the training, as brutal as it was, came from genuine care.

As a result, his gratitude and trust toward his mentors are very strong, and he continues to fight with the strength they helped him gain.

Innate Magical Disadvantage

In this world, the key stat for adventurers is magical power quantity.

This value represents both the amount of magic one can hold and generate, and it is crucial because it fuels everything from spellcasting to various strengthening techniques.

For most adventurers, high magical power is the foundation of strength.

Rick, however, is born with the lowest possible magical power value, making him inherently disadvantaged in a world where magic defines power.

Moreover, magical power in this setting stops being trainable around the age of 25.

By the time Rick decides to become an adventurer in his thirties, he has already passed the age where his magic could have been developed through standard means.

Since he cannot significantly improve his magical power through normal training, he compensates by relentlessly honing everything else: physical strength, technique, endurance, tactics, and willpower.

Through this path, he acquires his current level of combat ability, despite having the worst starting point.

Trigger Condition: Rick must resolve to challenge an overwhelmingly stronger enemy, clearly beyond his normal limits.

The skill cannot activate against enemies weaker than Rick.

The stronger Rick becomes, the harder it is to meet the condition of “facing someone far stronger than himself.”

In its initial form, Reckless Soul was extremely dangerous and unstable.

When activated, Rick could not control the surge of magic and would collapse into a comatose state for more than a week afterward.

Through the “hell training” with Orichalcum Fist, Rick gradually learns to control this excessive magical power.
