Yasuko Koenji

I’m easily recognized by my signature red tracksuit and glasses, which I wear almost all the time.

Standing out among the other girls, I’m known for my curvy figure, a trait that even Shiro and Senko sometimes comment on in awe.

When I let my ponytail down, take off my glasses, and dress up, I become almost unrecognizable—even Kuroto Nakano had trouble believing it was me.

My usual look is practical and a little messy, the sort of style you'd expect from a busy university student and manga artist.

I think it’s fair to say I’m an otaku through and through.

My love for anime, manga, and cosplay knows no bounds, and I get especially excited when talking about "Little Yoko," my favorite anime heroine.

Deadlines can be tough—I often let household chores slide, living in a room that sometimes verges on disaster territory.

But even when I’m frazzled or sarcastic, I have a big heart, and I’m always up for helping my friends or lending a hand, especially if it means a new cosplay opportunity.

Despite my teasing, bold comments (like saying I’d have gone after Senko if she weren’t “married”) are mostly in good fun.

I may seem blunt or quirky, but I genuinely care for my neighbors and value our friendships.

I’m both a university student and a professional manga artist, working under the pseudonym “Koenji Jusco.”

Manga keeps me busy enough that meals are sometimes forgotten and my room becomes a mess.

I live right next to Kuroto Nakano on the same floor, and our families even share deep historical ties going back over 800 years to the same village.

Drawing manga is my main skill and passion.

I’m creative and resourceful, able to juggle schoolwork, freelancing deadlines, and fandom fun.

While I know how to cook, I rarely take the trouble unless I absolutely have to because I prefer spending time drawing or playing games.

Kuroto Nakano

Senko

I first mistook Senko for Kuroto Nakano's wife in a "Little Yoko" cosplay!

We became good friends, exchanging food, advice, and cosplay tips.

I'm grateful for the meals and tidying she's done for me, and I return the favor when I can.

Shiro

After she burst into my room, Shiro and I became close—almost like partners in crime.

We hang out a lot, and she even helps with my manga as an assistant.

I’m the type to order Senko into cosplay photoshoots or jab playfully about “attacking” her if she were single—with tongue firmly in cheek, of course.

People who only know me in tracksuits and glasses are stunned when I switch up my look.

At one point, my eyes were drawn as simple “3’s” when I lost my glasses—classic manga style!

“Honestly, if you weren’t married, I’d have totally gone after you!”

First Encounters and Misunderstandings

My first big role in Kuroto Nakano’s life started with noise complaints.

When I barged in, suspecting a racket, I found Senko and immediately misjudged her as Kuroto’s wife in a cosplay from "Little Yoko."

In a rush of misunderstanding, I almost called the police because I thought something was wrong.

Accepting Neighbors and Growing Friendships

Senko soon won me over—her cooking (especially her amazing stew) helped break the ice and fix our awkward first impressions.

We became neighborly, sharing stories, advice, and the occasional borrowed ingredient.

I brought Senko some maid outfits for her cosplay collection and even taught her some Western recipes to broaden her horizons.

The Arrival of Shiro

One day, Shiro dashed into my apartment, and our friendship kicked off from there.

She became my manga assistant and partner for games and antics, and we began spending lots of time together.

I quietly realized Shiro might not be entirely human, but I kept my suspicions to myself, not wanting her to vanish.

A Secret Revealed

During a close call with a manga deadline, Shiro used her torii-powered teleportation magic to save my work, finally confirming her supernatural side.

Grateful and relieved, I confessed I’d known for a while, and our friendship only became stronger for it.

Eventually, I even realized Senko was a real fox spirit, and I accepted her true nature as well.

Life with Magic and Manga

Life has become a whirlwind of deadlines, fandom, and the occasional supernatural adventure.

Senko and Shiro have made my little messy world much livelier and brought a sense of belonging—both in this life and perhaps in the echoes of our shared past.

Many suspect my name comes from Koenji Station on the train line right next to Nakano Station.

When people see my non-standard side, sans tracksuit and glasses, it always gets a reaction!
