Refuto is the younger twin brother of Raito and a boy with the appearance of a black rabbit.
He is the fourth-generation scythe craftsman of the long-established "Crescent Moon Hall."
Refuto is highly skilled at his craft, but his extremely foul mouth has driven customers away, leaving the shop almost deserted since he took over.
Despite his talent, Refuto's abrasive attitude makes it hard for people to approach him or use his services.
His reputation for being difficult is so notorious that even the regular clientele have stopped coming.
At first, Refuto followed the book left behind by the previous scythe master, titled "My Half-Life" (which misleadingly means "My Regrets").
He crafted scythes exactly as described.
However, he never read the later sections that pointed out serious flaws in the designs, resulting in him producing and selling defective scythes.
Because of this, Rinne Rokudo does not trust Refuto at all.
Once Refuto found out that the book only contained failed designs, he decided to forge his own original scythes.
Despite this shift, his newly crafted products are obviously motivated by greed rather than quality or practicality.
As a result, Rinne Rokudo and others rarely buy from him or take him seriously.
Refuto adds a mischievous and comedic element to the story—a skilled craftsman who can’t hold back his sharp tongue, constantly putting his business and relationships in jeopardy.
Despite his talent, his inability to connect with others and focus solely on profit makes him a recurring but seldom appreciated presence among the characters.
