Character Setting

Edit

Toono Hanna is a petite “fake noble lady” and prisoner number 668 in the multimedia project “Mahou Shoujo no Majo Saiban,” a self-styled high-class girl who hides her poverty and wields a small-scale levitation magic that often makes her a prime murder suspect.

Name: Toono Hanna

Gender: Female

Prisoner Number: 668

Birthday: May 15

Height: 148 cm

Weight: 40 kg

Magic: Levitation

Original Sin: Fantasy Noble Lady

Trauma: Unknown (not yet revealed)

Hobby: Collecting “ojou-sama” (refined lady) goods

Special Skill: Sewing

Voice Actress (CV): Saya Ishizaki

Hanna speaks in over-the-top refined “lady” speech, constantly ending her sentences in theatrical high-class tones.

She deliberately plays the role of a haughty, otherworldly rich girl, keeping her nose in the air and acting like she is above everyone else.

She claims to be the daughter of a prestigious family, but her behavior and slips of the tongue often contradict this.

In reality, she was born into a very poor household, and her noble persona is essentially a fantasy she is forcing into reality.

Even with her affected arrogance, she frequently ends up in the tsukkomi or straight-man role, reacting in exasperation when things get ridiculous around her.

Despite her posturing, she can be surprisingly caring, observant, and responsible toward others, especially when they are struggling.

Hanna is a very slender and short girl with the delicate presence of a bisque doll.

Her skin is very pale (similar to other prisoners), which, combined with her build, gives her an almost doll-like, fragile impression.

She has long blonde twin-tails tied high, giving her a striking and theatrical silhouette.

On her head she wears an extravagant head-dress, fastened under her chin like an old-fashioned, ornate bonnet.

Her main outfit is a luxurious green and black dress accompanied by a matching cape, clearly designed to scream “elite young lady.”

Yellow and white roses are used as accent motifs, reinforcing her decorative, doll-like image.

On her legs she wears white tights, and on her feet, green shoes that match her dress.

Overall, she looks like a carefully arranged porcelain doll dressed up for a gothic tea party.

Hanna’s magic is levitation, but in an extremely limited form.

At her current level, she can float only about 10 centimeters above the ground.

This levitation can be maintained for around one minute, and even that short time drains her stamina significantly.

Despite being “weak” in raw power, it has a dangerous application: she can move without leaving footprints or other ground traces.

Because of this, the possibility that her magic could be used to commit a seemingly impossible crime comes up repeatedly.

As a result, she is often suspected when murders or strange incidents occur, simply because her ability could bypass physical evidence.

When she realized she had magic, Hanna learned about the rumors of the Prison Manor and the “witch factor.”

Terrified of being sent to the Prison Manor, she kept her magic secret from everyone and lived in hiding, concealment becoming part of her survival strategy.

Later, during a picnic with Sakuraba Emma and Tachibana Sherry, she practices levitation with a broom as a prop.

She performs low-altitude flight while Sherry rides on the back, turning her modest magic into a makeshift witch-broom scene.

In one bad ending, when Hanna becomes a witch, her levitation evolves into full flight.

Once transformed, she is finally able to truly soar, contrasting sharply with the cramped, limited floating she had as a prisoner.

Hanna is one of the prominent prisoners in “Mahou Shoujo no Majo Saiban,” often placed near the narrative center.

Her flashy speech, strong opinions, and close ties to key characters make her stand out—but also place her at high risk.

In the lounge, Hasumi Leia questions Hanna’s strange noble-lady speech and challenges her persona.

Hanna holds a grudge over this confrontation and becomes openly opposed to Leia’s stance.

When Leia later insists they should obediently follow the rules of the Prison Manor for their own safety, Hanna deliberately sides with Sakuraba Emma instead.

This choice sets up a factional split and firmly plants Hanna in Emma’s group rather than Leia’s.

Because she is often involved in major decisions and conflicts, she plays a noticeable role in several routes.

The flip side is that she also has multiple bad endings where she meets extremely brutal or tragic fates.

She confides to Emma and the others that she had long hidden her levitation magic in the outside world to avoid being sent to the Prison Manor.

This backstory adds a layer of fear and caution under her flamboyant, arrogant surface.

In the second run of the story, Nikaido Hiro is killed by defying the guards but uses a time-reversal “death reset” magic to jump back to day one in the Prison Manor timeline.

The second loop shows an altered world line where previous events are subtly changed.

In this second loop, there is no scene where Leia calls out Hanna’s speech, nor does the group split in the same way.

However, it is still implied that Hanna is wary of Leia and naturally gravitates toward Emma and Sherry again.

Just as in the first loop, Hanna makes handmade dolls modeled after Emma and the other magic girl candidates.

Unlike in the first run, this time she actually manages to give Emma the doll properly, turning what was originally tied to tragedy into a small, warm moment.

Hanna is the sixth character to die.

After Emma falls seriously ill and spends a full day bedridden, disaster strikes.

A fire breaks out in one of the guesthouse buildings, specifically the room called the “Fire Spirit Room.”

There, the other magic girl candidates discover Hanna dead, hanging by the neck.

The scene is especially macabre: around her, the handmade dolls Hanna was making—each one modeled after a magic girl candidate—are also hanging in the same way as her body.

These dolls were originally made to cheer up the weakened Emma, turning what was an act of kindness into a chilling tableau of death.

This death plays heavily into the mystery and psychological horror of the story, blending her hobby (sewing and dolls), her kindness toward Emma, and the cruel nature of the Prison Manor.

It also retroactively casts her earlier doll-making and sewing scenes in a far more ominous light.

Sakuraba Emma

Hanna sides with Emma when she defies Hasumi Leia’s strict approach, naturally falling into the same group as Emma.

From then on, they share many scenes together and act as close partners in the story.

Hanna openly refers to Emma as a “friend,” making their bond explicit rather than implied.

Their relationship is portrayed as mutually supportive and genuinely warm beneath their stressful situation.

Emma is also the primary recipient of Hanna’s handmade dolls, especially in the second loop where Hanna successfully hands one over.

This gesture symbolizes Hanna’s desire to protect Emma and to give her comfort in a place where hope is scarce.

Tachibana Sherry

Hanna also joins forces with Tachibana Sherry by virtue of taking Emma’s side against Leia.

The three form a loose trio, but Hanna and Sherry in particular stand out as a strong pair.

Hanna and Sherry often trade light-hearted jabs and sarcastic comments.

According to Emma, this banter is their way of venting stress and maintaining sanity in their grim environment.

Hanna explicitly recognizes Sherry as a friend, just like Emma.

Due to their many interactions and strong narrative pairing, they are usually linked together in fan interpretations.

In fan communities, there is a popular pairing tag for them, and on art platforms, Hanna-and-Sherry duo illustrations outnumber Hanna-solo art.

Their dynamic is often depicted as two chaotic aristocratic types clashing and bonding at the same time.

Hasumi Leia

Hanna has a complicated relationship with Hasumi Leia.

She frequently makes negative remarks about Leia and clearly “does not think well of her.”

The original conflict starts when Leia challenges Hanna’s artificial noble speech and questions her behavior in the lounge.

Hanna takes this very personally and holds onto the resentment.

At the same time, there are hints that Hanna is somewhat captivated by Leia’s charisma or presence.

Despite her stated dislike, certain scenes suggest she cannot entirely ignore Leia and may be unconsciously drawn to her.

Shitou Alisa

In the short gag comic series “This Girl Will Die After This,” Hanna often interacts with Shitou Alisa, a lone-wolf type.

Hanna fusses over her in a very “mom-like” way.

She worries whether Alisa is eating properly and checks on her basic well-being.

When she notices that Alisa’s clothes are coming
