Name Origin: His name is a pun derived from the phrase "excellent attendance" as revealed in a social media post by the author.

Kiyoshi Shusse is one of the earliest members of the Kimengumi alongside Go Reiitsu and often serves as the brainy advisor and explainer within the group.

He is a core member of the Kimengumi but also holds the dubious record of ranking last in two consecutive official character popularity polls.

Within a cast overflowing with extreme eccentrics, Kiyoshi is surprisingly close to a "normal person" in everyday behavior.

At the same time, he is openly and wholeheartedly a womanizer and a self-professed hardcore lecher.

In his first year at Ichiou Middle School, Kiyoshi meets Rei Ichidou and Go Reiitsu, both of whom have overpowering personalities.

He quickly hits it off with them and becomes one of the three pillars of the "Ichiou Middle School Perverted Trio" centered around Rei.

In his second year, Dai Monohoshi and Jin Daima join the group at Rei’s invitation, transforming the trio into a five-person unit.

This becomes the origin of the school’s notorious eccentric group, the Kimengumi.

At first, Kiyoshi clashes badly with Jin.

Kiyoshi dislikes Jin's carefree, "food and sleep are enough to be happy" philosophy, while Jin is irritated by Kiyoshi's constant worries about rejection and minor romantic frustrations.

Over time, the two come to recognize these traits as each other's individuality and gradually deepen their mutual understanding.

They eventually overcome their conflicts and develop a close friendship strong enough that Jin’s parents come to trust Kiyoshi deeply.

Academically, Kiyoshi struggles and repeats a year three times, including failing his high school entrance exams.

He finally secures a bumped-up acceptance into the low-prestige Hitosaki High School, known for its very low academic standards.

Soon after, however, Hitosaki High merges with the elite Ousei High School, forming the new Ichiou High School.

Kiyoshi and the others are slid into Ichiou High during this restructuring.

At Ichiou High, Kiyoshi manages to progress normally and eventually graduates.

After graduation, he helps out at his family’s public bathhouse, "Ganbarimasshi Bath," while attending night school.

He spends roughly five years balancing work and study, steadily building experience at the bathhouse.

Ultimately, he achieves his long-held dream of taking the prestigious seat at the bathhouse front counter, becoming the official attendant at the main desk.

On the surface, Kiyoshi is diligent and responsible, with a fundamentally serious nature.

At the same time, he is an unabashed womanizer and a self-aware "professional pervert" who takes pride in his lecherous identity.

In the world of High School! Kimengumi, "pervert" usually means a general oddball rather than a purely sexual deviant.

Kiyoshi is unusual in that he is a straightforward, textbook example of a lecher in a cast otherwise dominated by eccentric weirdos.

His room is packed with adult magazines, posters of popular idols, and even his younger sister’s swimsuit among his questionable collection.

Despite this, he insists on a clear philosophy: "If you do not understand the true art of being lecherous, you instantly descend into vulgar filth."

Because of this personal code, he never turns his lust directly toward close friends like Yui Kawa and Chie Uru, whom he genuinely cares about.

He prides himself on practicing what he calls "pure-hearted lechery," drawing a sharp line between admiration and harassment.

Kiyoshi is extremely prone to falling in love at first sight.

He repeatedly confesses to various girls at school, is rejected, and then falls for someone new.

Even when he is caught peeping and gets beaten to a pulp for it, he refuses to give up on love or on women in general.

This stubbornness shows a weird kind of emotional resilience and dedication rather than simple creepiness.

He even approaches Sho Kiriede to learn the "secret arts" of becoming more attractive to women.

This shows that beneath his perversion, he treats women as people he wants to understand and respect, making him a sort of earnest, if misguided, feminist.

Because his thoughts are almost entirely occupied by women and romance, his grades are predictably poor.

However, his memory and focus are impressive when applied to his interests, suggesting misdirected effort rather than a lack of intelligence.

Kiyoshi possesses an extraordinary memory, particularly regarding female students.

He is said to have memorized the data of hundreds of female students at school, including their names, clubs, and personal details.

Among the Kimengumi members, most are surprisingly naive about romantic and sexual matters.

Kiyoshi therefore functions as the resident "love expert," teaching them detailed techniques and strategies for romance.

In various club-challenge storylines, Kiyoshi often takes the role of a deliberate "sacrificial pawn" in competitions.

He uses cunning tactics to read his opponents' personalities and weaknesses, deliberately losing while gathering crucial information for the team.

This makes it clear that he is not "stupid" so much as someone who neglects academics to pour all his effort into romance and perversion-related skills.

His intelligence becomes obvious whenever he can channel it into his chosen, if dubious, speciality.

In terms of physical ability, his basic stamina and strength are relatively low compared to other characters.

However, his obsession with peeking and skirt-flipping has led him to develop unique, high-level techniques.

He has mastered "super high-speed movement," which allows him to erase his presence and appear behind someone in an instant.

He also boasts the legendary "five-person flip," where he manages to flip the skirts of five girls at once.

These techniques make him one of the fastest characters in the series when he is motivated by anything involving women.

Outside of those moments, he appears rather unathletic and even frail.

Among the Kimengumi, most members are terrible at swimming.

Kiyoshi, while still odd, can perform several swimming styles in his own strange ways.

He can do a version of breaststroke, although for some reason he moves backwards instead of forward.

His butterfly stroke is done on his back, which is bizarre but demonstrates incredible bodily coordination.

His crawl stroke is the only one that looks fairly normal.

However, due to his low stamina, he can swim only a few meters before sinking and almost drowning.

Academically, Kiyoshi’s grades are poor and far below the standard of the elite schools in the story.

However, true to the pun in his name, he has excellent attendance and is considered an honor student when it comes to simply showing up.

Within the Kimengumi, where Rei Ichidou and others are chronic latecomers and absentees, his reliable attendance stands out even more.

He becomes emblematic of the idea that he is "bad at studying, but good at showing up."

Kiyoshi is one of the most mentally mature characters in High School! Kimengumi.

His relatively high emotional age contrasts strongly with the childishness and absurdity of other members.

Combined with his modest physical ability, subdued temperament, and old-fashioned hobbies such as growing bonsai, he gives off a calm, almost elderly atmosphere.

He sometimes feels like a middle-aged man trapped in a teenager’s body, especially outside of his lecherous antics.

Alongside Dai Monohoshi, he often functions as a voice of reason within the group.

He listens to others’ problems, provides explanations, and tries to restrain the group when they are about to go too far.

In story arcs where the Kimengumi confront other clubs or rival groups, Kiyoshi’s analytical side often comes to the forefront.

He breaks down situations, reads the mood, and occasionally sacrifices his own "dignity" or success for the good of the group.

Despite his role as a "common-sense anchor," he never loses his identity as a devout lecher.

This contrast between mature counselor and hopeless skirt-chaser is a key part of his comedic charm.

Kiyoshi’s closest companions are the other Kimengumi members: Rei Ichidou, Go Reiitsu, Dai Monohoshi, and Jin Daima.

He has known Rei and Go since their first year of middle school, making him one of the original core trio.

His relationship with Jin Daima in particular evolves from rivalry to deep friendship.

They move from near-constant friction to mutual trust, ultimately becoming so close that Jin’s parents accept Kiyoshi as a reliable friend.

With Yui Kawa and Chie Uru, Kiyoshi maintains a careful, respectful distance despite his usual lecherous tendencies.

He values them as friends and refuses to sexualize them directly, in accordance with his "pure-hearted lecher" code.

In one storyline, Kiyoshi forms a complicated, emotionally significant connection with Machi Oyakishi, a member of the girls’ tennis club.

Their relationship often becomes the focus of fan-created works, where their romance is more fully realized and brought to a surprising or heartfelt conclusion.

Within the world of High School! Kimengumi, Kiyoshi is not particularly popular with the in-universe fans.

In official character popularity polls, he infamously placed last two times in a row, setting a negative record.

This poor ranking contrasts with his narrative importance as one of the original members and intellectual pillars of the group.

It also adds a layer of meta-comedy, as he is both indispensable to the story and comically overlooked.

However, among certain readers and fans, his combination of sincerity, vulnerability, and absurd commitment to his own "lecher’s philosophy" makes him endearing.

His earnestness, especially when dealing with women he admires, gives him a strangely noble aura underneath all the perversion.
