Taki Tachibana

One of the protagonists of the story. A male high school student living in central Tokyo. As of the summer of 2016, he is 17 years old and a second-year student at Tokyo Metropolitan Jingu High School (in the class next to 2-C). In reality, he is three years younger than Mitsuha. Regarding his birthday, Shinkai mentioned, "In my mind, both of them were somehow born on December 1st."

He seems to live with his father, who works in Kasumigaseki, and Shinkai stated, "I think his mother divorced a few years ago." The Tokyo Tower is visible from his home. He is skilled at drawing and has an interest in architecture and art.

He spends his days happily with friends and works part-time as a waiter at the Italian restaurant "IL GIARDINO DELLE PAROLE," where he secretly harbors feelings for his senior colleague, Miki Okudera.

He also has a lecherous side, as he would fondle Mitsuha Miyamizu's chest every time he woke up on the days they switched bodies, which was witnessed by her younger sister, Yotsuha. As a result, when the two met directly during the twilight time when the body-swapping was undone, Mitsuha complained to him.

In the side story novel, while he is in Mitsuha's body, he serves simplified versions of the restaurant's dishes as the cooking duty.
