He is Yosuke Ueno's close friend since middle school. With a large, athletic build, he belongs to the judo club. Due to his rarely changing facial expressions, Sumire Uguisudani remarks that it is impossible to tell what he is thinking. His birthday falls during the New Year's holidays, on January 2nd.
He grew up in a household dominated by women—his grandmother, mother, and two older sisters—where constant long conversations and complaints were the norm. As a result, he is more mature than his age suggests and often speaks with a tone of quiet understanding. Despite his intimidating appearance, he is one of the most considerate and kind-hearted characters in the story.
Thanks to his perceptiveness, he is the only one aware of Sumire Uguisudani's hidden personality. However, even when confronted with Sumire's true nature, he interacts with her without changing his attitude, offering earnest advice and, in doing so, inevitably impacting her feelings. He also becomes more conscious of her after noticing her emotional turmoil and heartbreak before anyone else, and, although awkwardly, he tries to cheer her up by inviting her out. As a result, he gradually spends more time together with Sumire Uguisudani.
