Basara Toujou is the main character of The Testament of Sister New Devil. He looks like an ordinary high school boy but hides a wild mix of powers from four different races: hero, demon, god, and dragon. After a traumatic event cost him his old life and memories, he tries to live quietly, but his fate changes when he meets Mio Naruse, a girl with a dangerous secret. Eventually, Basara finds himself surrounded by strong girls, forced into wild adventures, difficult battles, and even more complicated relationships.
Basara Toujou is a 15-year-old boy in his first year at Saint Gakuzaka Academy, class 1-B.
He has a scar-like mark under his right eye, close to his right ear.
He usually looks like any normal high school student.
Basara is generally a friendly and good-hearted person.
He is sometimes shy and indecisive, especially when it comes to girls.
He tries to protect those he cares about, no matter what it takes.
During emergencies, Basara thinks very quickly.
He is brave and determined, willing to get his hands dirty for the sake of his friends and the world.
He sometimes lets people take advantage of his kindness, especially girls.
Basara is troubled by his traumatic past and the power that once caused terrible harm.
He always tries to do the right thing, even if it's dangerous or difficult.
Basara Toujou was born into the hero clan; his father is Jin Tojo, a powerful hero.
However, his family history is extremely complicated.
Basara is not only a hero but also carries the blood of demons, gods, and dragons.
His mother figure, Safia, is the previous Demon Lord’s younger sister.
Lafaelene, a goddess and cousin of Chisato Hasegawa, became his surrogate mother.
Due to a past incident five years ago, Basara was forced to use an ultimate power called Vanishing Shift, which accidentally caused a disaster.
As a result, Basara and his father Jin were banished from the hero village, and Basara lost his memories as a hero.
Basara is a "Speed-Type" fighter.
His main weapon is the legendary demonic sword Brynhildr, which appears from a pendant.
He specializes in ultra-fast sword skills and overwhelming his enemies with speed and strong attacks.
He can use the powerful Vanishing Shift ability, which erases everything in a certain area.
Because of the trauma from his past, Basara has subconsciously set three limiters on Brynhildr and will only fully release his power in extreme situations.
Basara inherited abilities from heroes, demons, gods, and dragons, making him a "Quadruple Red" – a being that no single race can fully accept.
He can enter into Master-Servant Contracts that power-up both sides, though these can lead to "curse" situations depending on the feelings between those involved.
Basara has a complicated web of relationships, mostly with girls.
He lives with Mio Naruse, his adopted sister, who is actually the daughter of the former Demon Lord.
Maria Naruse, a succubus girl loyal to Mio, also lives with them.
Kurumi Nonaka, and Yuki Nonaka, his childhood friends, are both members of the hero clan and care deeply about Basara.
He also forms a bond with Zest, a former enemy turned maid.
Basara creates Master-Servant Contracts with several of these girls.
Because of these contracts, his relationships often become very intimate.
He also has a mysterious and close relationship with Chisato Hasegawa, the school nurse.
Later on, Basara fathers children with several girls, driven by the necessity to keep everyone safe and survive as a family.
Basara only kissed Mio by his own choice; in many other cases, he was pushed into things by the girls around him.
His famous skill, Vanishing Shift, was actually inherited from his father Jin Tojo, who gained dragon powers by drinking the blood of the ancient dragon Fafnir.
Basara is cousins with both Mio and Maria because of the tangled family history involving their parents.
He is called the "Quadruple Red" because of his mixed bloodlines.
After losing his original memories, Basara tried to live a normal life but kept getting dragged back into magical battles.
The Traumatic Event and Banished Hero
Basara was once a promising hero in the village.
Five years ago, he was involved in an incident where a fellow hero, Kiyoto Oba, unleashed the sealed demon spirit from Brynhildr.
Basara lost control of Vanishing Shift while protecting Yuki Nonaka and erased everything nearby—including people and buildings.
Though Basara's actions were meant to protect others, the hero elders pushed all the blame on him and banished him and his father Jin Tojo from the village.
His memories as a hero were also erased, probably by his father.
After leaving, Jin Tojo even cut ties with the larger hero clan, threatening to fight them if they tried to pursue Basara.
The Master-Servant Contract and New Family
Once living as an ordinary boy, Basara's life changed when Jin brought home two girls, Mio Naruse and Maria Naruse.
Initially, Basara tried to keep his distance from all things demonic.
But after learning Mio's true identity, Basara was shocked.
He nearly threw Mio out, but after rescuing her and Maria from the Current Demon Lord faction, they developed a bond.
Basara and Mio formed a Master-Servant Contract, with Maria's help (and mischief), deepening their connection.
Other girls, like Yuki Nonaka, Zest, and Kurumi, also formed contracts with Basara out of necessity.
The contracts, strengthened by their feelings and physical closeness, boosted Basara’s powers, sometimes involving awkward or mature situations because of Maria’s succubus magic.
The Truth Behind His Birth
Basara's origins are revealed piece by piece.
He was born from a hero (Jin Tojo), a demon (Safia), and a goddess (Lafaelene).
Because of their dangerous situation, Lafaelene acted as a surrogate mother and gave birth to Basara.
Adding to this, Basara indirectly inherited dragon powers from his father, who fought Fafnir and drank his blood.
This makes Basara the only known person with hero, demon, god, and dragon lineage—a “Quadruple Red.”
Basara is actually the cousin of Mio and Maria; Chisato Hasegawa (Afleia) is a distant relative.
Battling Shiba Kyouichi
Eventually, Basara returns to the hero village.
There, he faces Shiba Kyouichi—a dangerous hero who was secretly created by cloning Jin Tojo's hair, stolen years ago.
Shiba absorbs the power of the Four Guardian Gods and the leader, Yellow Dragon, making him tremendously powerful.
Basara is defeated at first but is saved by Chisato Hasegawa.
To fight back, he, Mio, Maria, Yuki, Kurumi, and Zest use the Five Elements and turn their contracts into sacred bonds through physical intimacy.
With this, they defeat Shiba, using the power of love and bonds instead of greed and selfishness.
Meanwhile, their true enemy, the "Holy King" Albareos, is also taken down.
Aftermath and New Family
Though Basara only had relations with each girl once, his unique heritage made it so that most of the main girls—Mio, Yuki, Zest, Kurumi, Maria, and even Chisato—became pregnant with his children.
He also takes in other girls in danger, such as Nanao Tachibana (a vampire) and Celis, creating new contracts and deep bonds for their protection.
Through all these wild adventures and connections, Basara's main drive remained the same: to protect his precious people no matter what.
- Basara is called an “irregular” by other races, as they find his mixed origins hard to accept.
- Although some readers comment on how wild the story gets, the extreme measures taken by Basara are meant for the safety and survival of everyone close to him.
