Kikuru Madan

The protagonist is a young man. His job is "Hunter." His weapons are a bow and arrows, and a dagger. He is 20 years old.

Since childhood, he has been subjected to intense training, and after turning 18, he began engaging in actual combat, regretting that he wasted his "golden teenage years." He dreams of entering university, enjoying campus life, and having a girlfriend like others his age. In the city of Mebuki, where the story is set, he is the most active "ace" in his second year of service, but he avoids media exposure due to his desire to retire early, making him somewhat obscure. Despite having lofty dreams, his life of constant training has become a habit, and he feels uneasy if he is not working out.

His bob-cut hair is a dull green, with part of his bangs being white. His face retains a youthful look, but his body is muscular, with deep scars on his chest, back, and right wrist from training and fighting monsters.

He is inexperienced in romance and is a virgin. He quickly became immune to witnessing women being violated by monsters and is not easily disturbed by it, but he has no resistance to romantic conversations or physical contact, which makes him extremely flustered. Even if he gets into a good mood with a woman, he often ruins it with insensitive remarks. He is sensitive to criticism and becomes deeply depressed when insulted.

He is responsible for training new guards, starting with Hitamu, but often gets overwhelmed by their strong personalities.

In combat, he can handle both front-line and rear-guard roles alone, but he has lost the magical pathways that channel mana due to severe past injuries, rendering him unable to use mana at all. Skills like "Stealth," which erases his presence, "Throwing Technique," which increases throwing accuracy, "Shukuchi," which allows for instantaneous acceleration, and "Setsuna," a high-speed sword technique, typically require mana to activate, but Kikuru demonstrates similar abilities through sheer physical and mental training. Kikuru's unique imitation skills are named "Zero Style," but he avoids using the name, considering it too chuunibyou-like. Although skills are usually dependent on one's job, Zero Style allows him to use skills beyond the "Hunter" role, as if he were a "Ninja" or other professions.

His nickname is "Kikuru of Zero."
