Character Setting

Edit

Red Hood is a member of the ill-fated Goddess squad led by the Legendary Commander consisting of her squad mates, Liliweiss, Dorothy, Rapunzel, Scarlet, and Snow White. She is the last one to debut. Her notable characteristics are her fondness for both country music and adult magazines. She was formerly assimilated with Rapi.

Nikke Backstory

The last Grimms model joining the Goddess squad. She's a bold and cheerful Nikke who loves old songs. Her red hair, red scarf, and red jacket are unforgettable.

“I'm a relic of a bygone era, so I'll be leaving soon. But, until that happens, I'll do everything I can to help.”

Red Hood is a cheerful and easy-going person, with a rather optimistic attitude towards life. She has a hobby listening to old music and consuming adult materials such as erotic novels and dirty magazines. She also likes calling people with the nicknames she gives them, which tends to garner mixed reactions.

Red Hood holds her pride very high, this can be seen through her acknowledgement about "borrowing" Rapi's body. She doesn't resist or fight back but instead is willing to cooperate with the Counters to bring Rapi back, even if it will lead to her demise. This stems back when Red Hood initially met her decades ago as a mass-produced Nikke prior to the main storyline. During that time, Rapi envisioned herself to become Red Hood, yearning to become like Red Hood under her tutelage.

A fragment of "Red Hood" that Rapi interacts with when activating "Secret Body" seems to be more of a rabid beast, clamoring at her to destroy the Ark even though Red Hood herself admits that she doesn't remember having such intentions. After regaining control of herself, Red Hood retains most of her former personality such as her hobby of listening to country music via her cassette recorder or her salacious thoughts she would often use in teasing others. Red Hood also firmly believes that the past should remain in the past such as her reputation as a member of the legendary Goddess squad, in contrast to Dorothy's pride who yearns to return those glorious days. With that in mind, Red Hood wanted others to succeed her place as a legendary member of the Goddesses.

Backstory

The woman who would later be known as 'Red Hood' was born in a village close to a corn field. This village would later known as the "Reclamation Site 01." She would often spend her days listening to both classic and country music. Later on, a friend of hers would bestow to her a cassette player which Red Hood gifted to her back in the day as she reminisce their days. Red Hood lived the life of a troublemaker, hanging out with her friends and acting as public nuisances. However at an unspecified time, she was killed in an accident. Her brain was found to be compatible, so she was converted into a Nikke. Although she initially lacked any sense of duty, she would still use this opportunity move forward before becoming a member of the Goddesses.

As a Grimms model, Red Hood was assigned as a member of the legendary Goddess squad. She had a proclivity of possessing, consuming, and even distributing adult books and magazines, for the sake of flustering Rapunzel if nothing else. The constant bickering between the two of them at some point gave way to an unexpected friendship. Red Hood was also good friends with Snow White, and though the latter always admired Liliweiss more, she cherished Red Hood's company.

At some point during the first Rapture invasion, Red Hood became corrupted and slowly but inevitably began to suffer physical and mental degeneration. Despite her corruption, her incredibly strong will allowed her NIMPH to fight the corruption, temporarily staving off its encroachment. Towards the tail-end of the of the war, she decided to retire from Goddess to return to her hometown, in hopes of sparing her comrades the burden of executing her when her corruption inevitably turned her into an Irregular. Her disappearance emotionally devastated Snow White.

Red Hood briefly rejoined the squad to help them defeat the Heretic Anachiro, and after properly bidding her comrades farewell, she disappeared again, only with a smile on her face instead of a resigned melancholy.

Later on after the first Rapture invasion, Red Hood met Rapi at some point. Upon witnessing the Goddess squad member single-handedly defeating the Raptures pursuing them, Rapi wished to be her, eventually leading Red Hood to assume the role of a teacher to Rapi in order to become like her as the former's last will. By some unknown process, Red Hood's core and body fused with and coexisted inside Rapi's own, allowing the latter to use the former's power as a sort of trump card. The latter was considered by the former as a mentor and friend.

Chapter 4

During the Counters and Wardress' mission to apprehend Chatterbox, the talking Rapture reveals that Rapi is a Fairy Tale model code-named "Red Riding Hood."

Chapter 13

When Modernia mortally injures the protagonist, Rapi becomes enraged and activates "Red Hood," amplifying her strength and causing her to release immense heat throughout her body. Later on in the Outpost, Anis and Neon are trying to regulate Rapi's body temperature due to the extreme heat for unleashing Red Hood.

Ingrid then questions Rapi regarding what happened after unleashing Red Hood, telling her to stay cautious next time due to the two mass-produced Nikkes witnessing her transformation and forcing her to do a memory wipe on said witnesses. Rapi assured that she only unleashed her in a short time to avoid being consumed completely. Ingrid then asked about what did the Red Hood say, to which Rapi replies was the usual; "Destroy the Ark."

Chapter 17

Rapunzel was in complete surprise when Rapi answers her question regarding Red Hood, due to how both share similarities in their fighting style and Rapi having knowledge about their former squad. The priestess becomes nostalgic at how much Rapi resembles Red Hood, even if the two have drastically different personalities.

Chapter 24

Rapi once again activated Red Hood after her squadmates were incapacitated by Indivilia's talon-like appendage. As Indivilia attempts to decapitate her, Rapi managed to catch it despite its immense speed. She breaks the talon and stabs it against Indivilia's abdomen before performing a roundhouse kick, throwing her off against both Chatterbox and Nihilister who were struggling to stand up as they piled themselves over each other, as much to Dorothy's surprise. As per Enikk's order to raise the emergency elevator which will dislodge the Heretics and the Pilgrim to the surface, both parties were eventually separated.

Completely consumed by her power, Rapi collapses and twitches uncontrollably, eventually transforming into Red Hood. As Red Hood looks over to her surroundings, she walks away.

Chapter 25

When Counters tracks down Red Hood to try and retrieve Rapi, they find her in the company of the Pilgrim squad White Knights, who found her wandering in the middle of nowhere. Dorothy, who accompanied Counters for her own reasons, is both overjoyed to see her old comrade again...and confused as to how she's alive after her corruption became terminal. Even more baffling is that she claims Rapi's consciousness is... inside of her?

Chapter 26

Needless to say, this news is hard for everyone to understand, let alone believe. Red Hood can hear Rapi's thoughts and she is certain that they belong to her since the two share a strong bond. She doesn't remember her final moments well, but she knows Rapi was there. In all honesty, Hood knows as much as they do, but Chime and Crown has some insights to share. The Knights witnessed her battle against the Heretics and Chatterbox, or rather her one-sided thrashing, and her transformation. Upon the protagonist's questioning, Hood admits to not understanding herself that Rapi has been using her power. Dorothy doesn't believes any of this and Red Hood reiterates that Rapi's consciousness resides inside of her. Only after she calls Dorothy Parasol Lady, mentioned that she doesn't look any different from when they last saw each other, and complete her signature phrase of "The older something is, the better it is.", does she realize that she was talking got the real deal. Hood wants to get a move on since Rapi is yapping at her to "head home"...

Red Hood takes the lead and everyone follows behind her in curiosity. Shortly after, the commander receives a call from Ingrid and upon hearing that they have met Red Hood, she agrees to share everything she can about her via a private text channel. In essence, Rapi and Red Hood's bodies have been merged into one. She's twice the weight of a normal Nikke and she posses two cores. Rapi was given primary custody to her body and whenever she needs it, she can access Red Hood's body. However, the two will engage in a power struggle whenever this happens and the energy emitted from the two cores clashing can easily overpower a Heretic. Using Red Hood's body grants Rapi incredible power, which they have witnessed. The cost to using it is that Red Hood gains more control over the body the longer she is used. So long as control is not completely transferred over, a toxin in Rapi's body can suppress Hood's consciousness. Every time she uses it, her body heats up to the point her brain could be fried if things get too heated. Every time Rapi regains control, Hood's consciousness fades, but her core always remains. Every time Rapi's body has been rebuilt, Red Hood always appears inside of it. There is no logical explanation as to why.

Fortunately, Red Hood has only completely taken over Rapi's body once before. They were able to inject her with the toxin to turn her back to normal, which was what Ingrid gave the protagonist before he departed. She warns him that this task easier said than done. He understands that Red Hood would want to continue living, but her resistance will come from Rapi, not Hood. They know little of the effects of leaving Red Hood in control, but they have observed that Rapi loses more memories the longer this happens. After the commander mentions that Hood can hear Rapi's voice, she shares that when Rapi used her power against Modernia, Red Hood told her to destroy the Ark. Since she is currently not acting out of malice, he doesn't have to be concerned about it.

Th protagonist shares what he has learned with the others and as expected, no one knew what to make of it. Even so, they have nothing else to go off of. Hood understands that she will die if they want to bring Rapi back, and that is a consequence she is willing to endure? She believes she had her time and that if there was a way for them both to live, she would gladly continue on. As that is not feasible, she's not going to continue using Rapi's body at the cost of her existence. Dorothy wants her to think things through before she makes a huge mistake, but she wants to get this done and over with. After Rapi refuses to get the injection, they realize that the only way for things to go back to normal is to travel to Red Hood's hometown. Though Hood has forgotten where that is, Chime knows where to go and the two former Goddesses leading the way.

While on their walk, Dorothy and Red Hood have very little to say to each other, despite how long it has been since they last saw each other. Red Hood is vague as to what has happened after she died and Dorothy is vague as to why she still lives. Despite seeming to have cured her corruption, Red Hood explains that it's a side effect of her new body. Despite how much time has passed, neither of them has changed a bit. While Red Hood is carefree as always, Dorothy is filled with regrets. Hood can tell her friend is different, though not exactly how. She wants to know what has happened after all of this time, but Dorothy refuses to share. Though any discussion is worth having, they are constantly reminded that Hood is using someone else's body.

Sometime later, Handsome wants to talk to Red Hood. She was under the impression he wanted to take a break so the two can get down and dirty, which was not the case, to her disappointment. He wants to know something, making her think he wants to know her measurements. She more than eager to show Handsome a good time, but he wants to understand her relationship with Rapi. To the Goddess, Rapi is many things. Her friend, her mentor, and her comrade, or a blend of the three. Hood found Rapi when she had nothing and she herself was about to lose it all, though the details are rather fuzzy by this point. She does remember the two got along well, but refuses to elaborate for both of their sakes. As for why she told Rapi to destroy the Ark, she never knew she told her to do that. Though she's glad that her comrades were able to defend it and that it's still standing, she can't help but get the feeling like she is forgetting something... She gets some severe headaches while trying to remember something and though the commander would allow her to rest if she needs to, she's ready to interrogate him for a change.

Red Hood wants to know what Rapi means to him, so he admits he considers her a comrade-in-arms like Anis and Neon. She understands that's how Rapi feels about them, but her feelings about him are different. Whenever the two are near each other, Hood can tell Rapi feels both at ease and nervous at the same time. The protagonist believes what they have is something between a commander and their Nikke, but Hood can tell what they have is more akin to that of a man and a woman. He admits that Rapi is one of the most important things in his world, however he isn't under the impression she considers him more than colleagues. Red Hood spells it out for him: Rapi is in love with him. She hints that if the two spent a night alone together, there's a good chance that the two would find themselves undressed and under the sheets, but gets another migraine before she could finish her thoughts. Red Hood promises to return Rapi to them if they take her home and he is willing to trust her. At Rapi's request, the two continue their travels hand in hand.

For a while, Dorothy has been rather quiet. Red Hood wants to know what is on her mind, so she asks if she regrets not doing what she wanted to. She admits as such and would change things if she could do things over again. Dorothy suggests letting Red Hood keep control due to how strong she is in combat and her durability. If Hood chooses to stay in her current body, she promises to return her to the glory days again. She informs her that her other friends are still alive and fulfilling their ultimate mission: to slay the Rapture Queen. Though they are vastly different than when Hood knew them, Dorothy hasn't kept in contact with them due to ideological differences. After they go back, they can figure out what to do then. Maybe if they can return to the good times, everything that has happened could be absolved.

Seeing through Dorothy's ploy, Red Hood refuses to go along with her ideal vision. She's not the person she used to be and is someone pulled from a time that has long since passed. Dorothy would give her the option to choose, but Hood wants to remain in the past. It was at this moment Red Hood realized how her friend has changed. Though she's normally pompous, she never exploited others before. Dorothy apologizes for her actions since seeing her again brought out the worst in her. She "accepts" Hood's decision and takes the lead... looking dejected.

After the group bids farewell to the White Knights, they arrive at Red Hood's hometown. Things haven't changed a bit and she's glad that she is finally back. All in all, she doesn't really feel a thing since she has few regrets. However, visiting her house may yield more of a reaction...

Her home is completely abandoned and devoid of furniture. After scouring a nearby room, she finds what she is looking for: her old cassette player. It was a gift from an old friend (Snow White) and... was pleasantly surprised that it still worked. She was glad to hear her favorite song one last time. After she gives Handsome the player as a gift, she is ready to die and bring Rapi back. Before she could get the injection... Dorothy shoots the commander? She refuses to let Rapi return and no one can stop her. Anis lunges towards her... only for the Pilgrim to dodge her and kick her into a wall. Neon also attempts to hold her back... only to be sent to the ground not long after. Dorothy then shoots the protagonist again in his legs and was going to destroy the injection device... until Red Hood blasts her and creates a hole in her abdomen. She's horrified at what her friend has become, but she wants to be adored again. Red Hood makes it clear reuniting the Goddess squad won't make things the way they were. Protecting humanity and living up to their title of Goddesses of Victory is what matters now, something Dorothy has long since abandoned. As Raptures descend upon the town after hearing the commotion, Anis returns and socks Dorothy in the chin. She was about to shoot her with her self-termination pistol, but Neon assures her that she's too injured to do anything.

After the Raptures are eliminated, Dorothy makes one last desperate plea for Red Hood to stay so she can reunite with the others. No matter how much she desires to see them again, she knows she can no longer remain here. Dorothy reveals that the Ark and humanity betrayed them and left them to rot. Her pride and purpose was all for not. She wants the Goddesses to join forces and have their revenge. Red Hood knows that pinning for the past won't make the future better, but back then, Dorothy was loved. Red Hood is certain that she is capable of loving others and doesn't need her around to do it. If that's impossible, there is always forgiveness. Doing so can bring her the outcome she desires, but only if she chooses to. Red Hood is confident she can do it.

Before she injects herself, Red Hood wants to record a video of herself for her friends as a last will and testament. As he starts recording, she lets the others know that she still lives, for now. Though she feels rather awkward, she continues. She knows that Snow White, Scarlet, and Rapunzel are still trying to eliminate the Rapture Queen after 100 years. She wants to remind them that they are not alone and they should step aside to let their allies finish the fight. After Red Hood parted ways with the other Goddesses, she got to enjoy some major downtime and bonded with some great people.

With everything being said, Red Hood is ready to die. After finally figuring out what she wanted to talk to her about, Dorothy watches as Red Hood disappears and Rapi returns. In her final moments, Rapi confesses that she initially wanted to leave everything to her, because she was more valuable to her. However, she made many good friends and made many wonderful memories with them. On top of that, Rapi meet her "special someone". Her life originally had no meaning, but know she feels completely fulfilled. Red Hood is glad to know her friend is happy to live and wants her to continue doing so. The two say one final farewell, and Rapi remerges in control. Her former comrade assures her that her friend lives on in her heart, but she admits to wanting to reminisce about the good times they had together. She ruined her final farewell to her, but Rapi believes she understands why.

While talking with Ingrid, the commander learns that... Red Hood is completely gone? Though she doesn't know why this time is different, Ingrid believes that Rapi will no longer be able to use her power anymore. However, an unknown energy source still looms inside of Rapi, though it was hard to detect and doesn't seem to have any impact on her.

Chapter 30 and 32

Though Red Hood's consciousness can no longer be detected in Rapi's body, she still has access to her power. She uses it to gain the upper hand on Grave and used it in her fight against Behemoth, though the latter battle ended in defeat.

Grave was familiar with Red Hood and considered her a hero, even though she is caring for the Goddess's greatest enemy. It was after the commander shows her the video she recorded for Pioneer does she trust them enough so they can complete her mission.

Chapter 34

After Leviathan traps Counters in her Black Sea, a ghost of Red Hood shows up and intervenes when the Beast tries to mentally break Rapi. Sensing that this is their final meeting, Rapi apologizes for misconstruing Red Hood's inheritance request as imitating her, promising to instead succeed the once-Goddess by taking her own path in life. Smiling, Red Hood silently fistbumps Rapi one final time, before vanishing into the depths of the Black Sea. In coming to terms with what it means to inherit Red Hood's legacy, Rapi undergoes a transformation, taking on aspects from Red Hood while still remaining herself.
