Awakened Cockroach is a male monster with Disaster Level Dragon in the manga remake (Murata version) of One-Punch Man, a member of the Monster Association and a cockroach-type creature with six arms known for his overwhelming speed and evasive movement.

Awakened Cockroach appears exclusively in the remake illustrated by Yusuke Murata and does not exist in the original webcomic version.

He is a humanoid cockroach monster whose entire fighting style revolves around extreme mobility, prediction, and survival instinct.

He serves as one of the Monster Association fighters deployed against the heroes.

Despite his arrogance and confidence in his own abilities, his story ultimately ends in a brutal and abrupt death at the hands of Orochi, the Monster King.

Awakened Cockroach has the form of a giant humanoid cockroach with six arms, emphasizing his insect nature in both silhouette and movement.

His body is built for speed and agility, allowing him to dash, leap, and twist through combat zones with ease.

He is not merely “fast”; he specializes in weaving through an opponent’s line of sight using an unusual, jittery style of movement.

This erratic gait lets him disappear from straightforward vision, making his path difficult to track even for advanced opponents.

He expertly uses the blind spots and structural dead angles of buildings to hide, reposition, and launch surprise attacks.

Urban environments effectively become his playground, where he can exploit walls, corners, and rubble to stay one step ahead.

According to Awakened Cockroach himself, he claims he can read murderous intent, causing his body to dodge attacks automatically.

He boasts that even if someone attacked at the speed of light, the blow would not hit him because his instinctive evasion would trigger first.

This instinctive dodging, combined with tremendous speed, makes him extremely hard to pin down in direct combat.

His style heavily favors evasion and harassment over trading blows, perfectly fitting his cockroach motif of being hard to kill.

Awakened Cockroach is cocky and self-assured, constantly bragging about his speed and evasive capabilities.

He genuinely believes that his ability to sense killing intent makes him practically untouchable.

He shows a playful cruelty in battle, toying with his opponents rather than finishing them quickly.

At the same time, he is not above retreating when a fight turns unfavorable, valuing his own survival very highly.

Despite his bravado, his overconfidence becomes a weakness when he underestimates his enemies.

This arrogance leads him into traps and ultimately contributes to his downfall.

Awakened Cockroach first comes into prominence during the conflict between the heroes and the Monster Association.

He engages in battle with Genos, an S-Class hero and powerful cyborg known for his destructive firepower.

During their fight, Awakened Cockroach successfully avoids Genos’s attacks again and again through his unpredictable movement.

He manages to stay ahead of the hero’s targeting systems, making it seem as if Genos cannot land a decisive hit.

When Genos mentions having an “ace up his sleeve” or a special hidden technique, Awakened Cockroach reacts with interest.

He pretends to lose interest in finishing Genos off and acts as if he will leave the fight to other monsters instead.

However, this withdrawal is only a feint: he plans to turn his back and then ambush Genos from behind.

Confident that his speed and instinct will protect him, he moves in to deliver a surprise attack.

At that moment, he falls into Genos’s trap: the hero uses an extremely powerful instant-setting adhesive.

Awakened Cockroach’s legs become stuck, immobilizing him and stripping away his crucial advantage—mobility.

With his movement sealed, Genos prepares to finish him off using a devastating incineration blast.

Awakened Cockroach, true to his roach-like tenacity, sacrifices his own legs to break free and narrowly escape death.

He flees the battlefield in a damaged state, retreating to the Monster Association headquarters.

Despite his escape from Genos, he has clearly been defeated and is no longer the confident predator he once was.

Upon returning to the Monster Association base, Awakened Cockroach comes before Orochi, the Monster King.

Orochi judges monsters not only by strength, but by their usefulness and performance in battle.

Orochi reprimands Awakened Cockroach for his defeat and failure against Genos.

In Orochi’s eyes, a monster who cannot secure victory is worthless, regardless of their potential.

Without any prolonged struggle or ceremony, Orochi effortlessly grabs Awakened Cockroach with one of his horns.

The Monster King then devours him, killing him in an instant and ending his brief career as a fighter.

Awakened Cockroach’s death underscores the brutal hierarchy within the Monster Association.

Even an extremely fast, highly skilled monster can be treated as disposable if they fail.

Awakened Cockroach’s signature trait is his “instinctive evasion,” where his body moves on its own in response to killing intent.

This is portrayed as almost precognitive, allowing him to slip through attacks that should be impossible to dodge.

His unique style of walking and movement is deliberately erratic, making his trajectory unpredictable.

By dodging through an opponent’s vision and using their blind spots, he makes targeting him extremely difficult.

He has excellent situational awareness, constantly using walls, corners, and building shadows to break line of sight.

These tactical movements make him especially dangerous in confined or cluttered environments.

While he is primarily known for speed and evasion rather than raw destructive power, his six-armed, insectoid body is still physically dangerous.

His combat approach favors hit-and-run tactics, quick strikes, and psychological pressure over direct confrontation.

His most notable interaction is with Genos, who becomes both his primary opponent and the one who exposes his limits.

Their clash highlights the contrast between overwhelming firepower and extreme evasiveness.

Awakened Cockroach initially treats Genos as a target to toy with, rather than a serious threat.

However, Genos’s strategic use of instant adhesive reveals that intelligence and planning can counter pure speed.

His relationship with Orochi is brief but decisive.

Orochi’s execution of Awakened Cockroach reflects the Monster King’s ruthlessness and zero tolerance for failure.

Within the Monster Association as a whole, Awakened Cockroach is portrayed more as a disposable asset than a core leader.

His fate illustrates how even powerful monsters are always at risk, not only from heroes but from stronger monsters above them.
