However, she is far from an ordinary cockroach!
No matter how much insecticide is sprayed at her, she revives within seconds.
She keeps boric acid bait as emergency rations, and even washes her body with soap.
Gokicha is able to understand and use human language and written characters, setting her apart from typical cockroaches.
She becomes excited when she sees items like bug bombs (which are actually fireworks in her case) or cockroach traps.
Despite being a cockroach, she can't stand messy places and just has to tidy them up whenever she sees a mess.
Her journey to Hokkaido is described differently in various versions: the mixi version, doujin version, and Houbunsha version each have their own take.
The idea that there are no cockroaches in Hokkaido belongs to the past.
Nowadays, thanks to the widespread use of heating and air conditioning as well as global warming, cockroaches can indeed be found there.
