Kazumi appears as a young girl with an energetic and charming demeanor. When she transforms, her outfit is a revealing white-and-black dress reminiscent of a witch, finished with bell-shaped earrings and a large cross-shaped staff as her weapon. Her Soul Gem takes the form of earrings, which can detach from her body—Ayase Futaki notes this is a rare Soul Gem format. If the earrings are deactivated, a needle emerges, and they resemble a Grief Seed. After making her contract, her outfit becomes more modest and her staff changes shape. Her Soul Gem's color is pale purple and is worn at her chest in transformed form.

Kazumi radiates optimism and curiosity. Even after losing her memories, she stays bright, sociable, and very trusting of others. She adores food and has been taught to despise those who mistreat it, reflecting her strong values and kind heart. Despite the hardships she faces, she remains lively and pure-spirited.

Kazumi is not a regular human but rather one of the clones crafted from Michiru Kazusa's corpse and packed with witch flesh. Technically, she isn't a true magical girl at first but is endowed with transformation and fighting powers similar to magical girls. Her journey revolves around seeking her identity, discovering her unique origins, and striving to become truly human.

Kazumi gradually learns that she is one of several clones created from Michiru Kazusa’s corpse, using the flesh of a witch. Although she possesses powers similar to those of a magical girl, she is technically not one herself.

Kazumi transforms into a battle-ready form, using her cross staff and unique magic against threats. She usually fights with powerful light-based magic, but in life-threatening situations, she unleashes a primal side, fighting like a beast.

Becoming a True Magical Girl

During the climactic battle against "Dawn of Hyades," Kazumi forms a contract with Kyubey, wishing to become "a real human and a magical girl." After her wish is granted, she fully becomes a magical girl, fighting alongside Umika Misaki and Kaoru Maki to defeat the enemy.

A New Beginning

After the battles end, Kazumi enrolls at the same middle school as her friends. When her homeroom teacher asks for her full name, she declares herself as "Kazumi Subaru." From then on, her life as a true magical girl and student begins anew.
