The director of the orphanage, Leland Tallman, appears to be a gentle man with a soft expression behind his glasses. However, beneath that demeanor lies his former role as a royal physician and a fanatically twisted ideology. While he acts kindly toward the children of the orphanage, caring for them like a father and being regarded as family by Marguerit Farom, in reality, he collaborates with necromancers behind the scenes and has aided in a horrific scheme: the mass slaughter of the capital’s citizens.
In his childhood, an experience using clairvoyant magic warped his mind, and he became obsessed with the abnormal desire to “save” people by transforming them into nothing but bones. Among all, he developed an especially obsessive attachment to the bones of Marguerit Farom. During the frenzy of the Masquerade Festival, he used necromancy to orchestrate a gruesome incident and ultimately kidnapped Marguerit Farom, scheming to marry her.
However, after a daring assault by Touka Scott and his group, Marguerit Farom was rescued. Enraged, Leland Tallman attempted to fight back using the mysterious power known as the “Drop of Soma,” but was defeated in turn and sent to prison. After his imprisonment, he suffered side effects from excessive intake of the Drop of Soma, descending into complete madness—reduced to incessantly chanting “Bone” like an incantation, consumed by mental collapse.
