Konoha has snow-white hair; his bangs grow just past his light pink eyes and the rest is tied in a low ponytail that ends above his shoulders. He has two circles that match his eye color on his right cheek that connect to each other and his eye with black lines. He wears a black neckband with two bright, yellow-green arrows that point downward on both sides. His headphones have yellow-green ear cups that each have a black border and two black accents. His clothing consists of a white, long-sleeved shirt he wears over a longer black one and light green flap trousers. The white shirt has a deep, round neckline and two rounded cuts at both sides of the waist. The right sleeve of Konoha's white shirt ends just below the elbow, whereas its left sleeve ends at the wrist. Black loops of fabric hang from beneath both ends of his white sleeves. The black bibs of his flap trousers are not on his shoulders but instead hang down loosely around his hips. His pants are the same yellow-green color as the accents of his accessories and have long, black arrows pointing downwards at the outer and inner seams of their legs. The ends of his pants are stuffed into grey, knee-high boots, which both have yellow-green arrows that drop down and curve slightly at the heel. Both boots have straps coming from the top of them and two black buckled straps over each instep.

In in the short film Kagerou Daze -in a day's-, only Konoha's face and headphones remain unchanged. He wears his ponytail high up while the hair below it hangs loosely behind his neck. He wears a black undershirt with long sleeves and a hem that ends below his hips. Above it, he wears a white and light gray shirt with yellow-green accents, including two large arrows that point downward on each side, and cuffed sleeves that end just below the elbow. Each cuff also has a long, thin black cord hanging off each outer side. He wears grey-navy blue pants that end below his knees and a pair of open-toed sandals.

When possessed by the Snake of Clearing Eyes, Konoha's general color palette changes. His hair and outer shirt become black, and the green-yellow parts of his outfit (headphones, neckband, and pants) become gray. The yellow arrows on his boots become black, and his eyes and the circles below his right eye become yellow.

Konoha is a gentle and quiet boy with apparent amnesia. Not knowing much about the normal world, he is rather air-headed, thus easily forgets some things; for example, he quickly forgets Hibiya and Hiyori's names despite hearing their long introductions the day before. He speaks very slowly and softly, and he's not a big fan of someone complaining about other people, as he has a black and white morality and is quick to judge something as "not nice". It's generally pretty rare to see Konoha express any negativity with someone. He also appears to be sensitive, and he can be brought to tears quickly if scolded.

As the Snake of Awakening Eyes, his existence revolves around his owner's wish. While Konoha does not have Haruka's memories, his body remembers Haruka's final wish to make friends. Because of this, this is his own goal as well, and he is quick to befriend people, especially Hibiya and Hiyori, who are staying with him in Kenjirou's residence. He, like Haruka, enjoys eating, and he especially enjoys Hibiya's cooking. When danger arises, he will unhesitatingly risk his own life to protect his friends; in more than one Route, for example, the Snake of Clearing Eyes is able to possess him when he makes himself vulnerable by protecting someone else.

Though he is suppressed when the Snake of Clearing Eyes possesses him, Konoha's strong will for his friends' safety sometimes causes him to regain control of his body for brief periods that last a few seconds, especially at the beginning of his possession. During these sporadic moments, he usually attempts to kill himself, as he knows he is unable to fully regain control of his body, but to no avail.

Thanks to his eye ability, Konoha has superhuman strength and abilities, such as being able to scale buildings with a single leap and eating much more than a normal person, even Haruka, could. Due to his general lack of understanding of how the world works, he is unaware of how others can react to his abilities and displays little impulse control before using them. For example, he will, without hesitation, leap up high into the air while carrying a new friend to quickly take them to a new destination or destroy the floor to reach the level below despite whoever is standing by him. He is willing to use violence to protect his friends, all while having a relatively blank facial expression.

In the Kagerou Daze and when it is separated from Haruka's body, the Snake of Awakening Eyes has a much more condescending and direct tone when it speaks to Haruka.

Awakening Eyes (目を醒ます Me wo Samasu): Konoha's eye ability gives him the power to remake his body into one that its true owner, Haruka, finds to be "ideal". Since Haruka was physically weak and sickly, this caused Konoha to become supernaturally strong. He has been shown to be able to jump great heights and destroy building floors with a single punch. He can heal from even fatal injuries with this ability, which looks like multiple black snakes wrapping around his body when activated.

Haruka Kokonose

The true owner of Konoha's body. Konoha was originally a video game character Haruka designed. However, following an unintentional wish made by him to be reborn the body of Konoha, which he had designed as his own "ideal body", the Snake of Awakening Eyes took on Konoha's form, forcing Haruka to stay in the Kagerou Daze while the other would be reborn in his stead. Haruka can view and hear what Konoha experiences.

Takane "Ene" Enomoto

Ene remembers Konoha as the game character of Haruka. As seen in Kagerou Daze -in a daze-, Ene is shown to have recognized Konoha during the accident on the streets and was prepared to chase after him with Shintaro when he was brought away with Hibiya in an ambulance truck. In -the children reason-, she expresses her feelings and memories of him after two years to him, but he does not remember any of it, due to him not sharing Haruka's memories. Ene refuses to think of him as "Haruka" and calls him an impostor instead. (Oof.)

Hiyori Asahina

A close friend of Konoha. She developed a crush on him as she visited to take summer courses. He stays at her sister's house.At the end of Mekakucity Actors the Snake of Clearing Eyes is forced to become a surrogate life for Hiyori through Konoha's wish, thus resurrecting her from the Kagerou Daze.

Hibiya Amamiya

Another close friend of Konoha. He does not remember Konoha's name at first and is very cautious around him. Hibiya is usually rude to Konoha due to Hiyori's crush on him, and it's implied he is merely jealous of him. However, on one summer day, when he is unable to see Hiyori, he takes his advice and follows him. Konoha makes a promise to Hibiya to bring back Hiyori, which he fulfills by the end of Mekakucity Actors.

Tsubomi Kido

Kido encourages Konoha to do what he believes to be best for Hibiya and Hiyori, although she expresses that she believes that the latter was unable to be reached due to being trapped in the Kagerou Daze. She explains the concept of their special eyes and the Daze to Konoha, and before he leaves, tells him that the group is there should he need them.

Shuuya Kano

In Kagerou Daze IV, Kano helps Konoha to search for Hibiya and Hiyori, and refers to him as the Mekakushi Dan's "Combat Specialist". Kano becomes shocked when Konoha begins to cry upon losing Hibiya again, but later on expresses interest in his eye ability.

Marry Kozakura

He befriends Marry at the Mekakushi Dan hideout after she makes him tea. They both share the desire of spending their time with their loved ones, and they seem to be in good terms with each other.

Shintaro Kisaragi

Konoha and Shintaro are close friends, even going as far as saving each others' lives. It is unknown if their relationship is in any way affected the relationship Shintaro had with Haruka in the past, since Konoha has no memory of these times and Shintaro does not seem to recognize him as Haruka.

Kenjirou Tateyama

Konoha resides at Kenjirou's house as a foster child.

Azami

Azami has once spoken to Haruka before the creation of Konoha. Although it not being his intention, Azami granted him his wish to have Konoha reborn in his stead.

Snake of Clearing Eyes

Konoha was killed while being taken over by the Clearing Snake. It used his body to kill the gang in order to awaken Marry's Medusa powers. Once it has taken possession of the boy's body, the Snake comes to the assumption that through this act the "Konoha" that its new body once belonged to has vanished completely. However, in the final episode of Mekakucity Actors the Snake, posing as Black Konoha, was prevented from achieving its goals of forcing Marry to reset the world's timeline. During this it learned, to its disbelief, that the personalities of both Haruka and Konoha, who appear to be separate beings, are very much alive. When Kenjirou's wish to be reunited with Ayaka was finally granted through the act of dying, the Snake became distraught, begging the Mekakushi Dan (who were present at the time) to give it a wish that it may grant, as it seems that the Snake cannot remain sentient whilst it is not granting a wish. To answer it Haruka joined the Dan - shocking the Snake further in the process - and presented it with the final wish of his other self, Konoha. Although he still seems to be suppressed somewhat by the Snake as he only appears in a reflection of "Black Konoha", Konoha is still able to speak, and with this he utters his final request: to fulfill his promise to Hibiya by saving Hiyori. The Snake protests, but is helpless as it vanishes along with Konoha, whose fate after this remains unknown. Haruka's shown in Summertime Record, showing his survival.

Backstory:

Konoha's design was first created by Haruka Kokonose, a sickly student and casual artist, as an avatar for the online video game Dead Bullet -1989-.

Konoha the individual was created two years before the present plot on August 15th. After Haruka died from his disease, he entered the Kagerou Daze, where he received the Snake of Awakening Eyes and his body was recreated into Konoha's likeness. The snake heeded Haruka's desire to have a strong body to make and keep friends with and gave Haruka's body supernatural strength and agility with its eye ability.

However, Haruka was unable to accept this new body. In the novels, it was indicated that Haruka's will was not strong enough to accept it. Similarly, in Mekakucity Actors, Haruka is shown to reject his new body when Azami presents it to him. Regardless, in all Routes, Haruka is left behind in the Kagerou Daze while his body, with only the Snake of Awakening Eyes to control it, returns back to the real world on August 15th as Konoha.

When Konoha returned, he was still unconscious and placed into a tank of clear fluid by the Snake of Clearing Eyes possessing Kenjirou Tateyama, Haruka's teacher. The Snake of Clearing Eyes plans Konoha's creation every Route (except for Manga Route 2) to get Awakening Eyes into the real world and so that it can eventually possess Konoha and kill the Mekakushi Dan with his supernatural strength and agility. The Snake of Clearing Eyes knows that it is able to do this through past Routes and because Konoha's body technically has no host, and thus Awakening Eyes must obey the Snake of Clearing Eyes once it takes control of his body.

It is not clear when Konoha woke up, but, once he did, he was moved to Kenjirou's home and left to reside there mostly alone with instructions to not go out. Konoha spent most of his time sleeping and, being a snake controlling a human body, did not know how to do basic things such as open doors.

On August 14th of most Routes (August 13th in the Anime Route), Konoha meets Hibiya and Hiyori when they arrive at Kenjirou's spare home to stay there for their summer trip in the city. Hiyori instantly is attracted to Konoha, which upsets Hibiya and causes him to detest Konoha. Konoha, still motivated by Haruka's desire to make friends, is greatly troubled by this.

On August 15th, Konoha gets struck by a truck alongside Hibiya and Hiyori while trying to protect them and is swallowed into the Kagerou Daze with them. However, his existence there is incomplete, since he does not really belong there, and -the children reason- indicates that Haruka shares his body with Konoha during his time there. While there, Konoha watches ones of them die in a seemingly endless timeloop of the same day. Konoha is unable to help or even touch them because his body acts as if incorporeal. Hibiya sees Konoha "just stand there and watch" during a portion, if not all, of their time there.

How Konoha, Hibiya, and Hiyori get hit by a truck, who Konoha sees die while in the Kagerou Daze, what happens to Konoha afterwards varies by Route.

It is not depicted how Hibiya, Hiyori, and Konoha end up in the Kagerou Daze in the Music Route, but Konoha's experience in there is shown through Konoha no Sekai Jijou. In this Route, he watches Hibiya die repeatedly and desperately reaches out to them. Konoha is then shown standing in the rain in the Daze, which indicates when Hibiya and Hiyori's time loop experience finally ends.

Afterwards, Konoha and Hibiya exit the Kagerou Daze, with the latter now with an eye ability, Focusing Eyes. At some point, the Snake of Clearing Eyes possesses Konoha and, as depicted in Outer Science, kills Hibiya and the Mekakushi Dan members except for Marry Kozakura, causing her to rewind the world with Combining Eyes and end the Route.

Konoha actually does not make an appearance in the main Manga Route, though it is assumed that he ends up in the Kagerou Daze with Hibiya and Hiyori on August 15th. Afterwards, the Snake of Clearing Eyes possesses Konoha, changing him to Black Konoha, obtains a gun, and confronts the Mekakushi Dan near the amusement park to kill them. This prompts Marry to rewind the world and end the Route.

Instead, the manga depicts Konoha's interactions with the Mekakushi Dan in Manga Route 2.

August 14th

Konoha answers the door to Hiyori and Hibiya, though he has trouble opening the door at first because he hasn't done it before. When he hears Hiyori's name, he invites them inside, but he is disturbed by Hibiya glaring at him. When the two kids later go out to shop, Konoha doesn't accompany them because of Kenjirous' orders to not go out.

August 15th

Konoha wakes up on August 15th to an empty house and, disobeying orders, goes outside in distress to search for Hibiya and Hiyori. He finds them at the children's park and overhears Hibiya's attempted confession and Hiyori subsequently rejecting him. When Hiyori sees Konoha, she asks him if he heard them. When Konoha affirms, Hiyori runs to the street, and Hibiya and Konoha both go after her. They are all then hit by an incoming truck and are swallowed into the Kagerou Daze.

In this Route, Konoha watches Hiyori die repeatedly and, during the last loop, speaks with an unnamed being (implied to be Azami) about his lack of ability to help them and his own ability, Awakening Eyes. When Hibiya is chosen to receive the Snake of Focusing Eyes, the being tells him to return to the real world. His internal dialogue indicates that he shares thoughts and consciousness with Haruka at this time.

Back in the real world, Konoha holds an unconscious Hibiya at the site of the traffic accident, drawing a crowd around them. An ambulance picks them up, and they are noticed by the Mekakushi Dan, particularly Ene, who mistakes Konoha for Haruka. Konoha waits outside of Hibiya's examination room at the hospital. When Shintaro Kisaragi arrives, he hands his phone to Konoha so that Ene can speak to him. Ene tells Konoha things such as "I've missed you," and "I thought I would never see you again," but Konoha doesn't understand her. Ene realizes that Konoha isn't Haruka and, upset, has him return Shintaro's phone, prompting Konoha to apologize. Afterwards, Ene would call Konoha an "imposter".

When Hibiya wakes up, he flees his examination room and the hospital, though not before berating Konoha for failing to save Hiyori and "just standing there and watching" instead. Konoha tries to explain that he couldn't do anything during the timeloops, but Hibiya doesn't listen. Shintaro is unable to chase Hibiya, since his legs are tired from running to the hospital. Hearing this, Konoha picks up Shintaro, hoists him over his shoulder, and, at a supernatural speed, moves up to the hospital's rooftop and then into the sky so that he can land by the hospital gate near Hibiya. Shintaro accuses Konoha of being like the Mekakushi Dan, meaning that he has an eye ability.

Konoha is too scared of the thought of Hibiya yelling at him again to confront him, so Shintaro calls his sister Momo, who is hiding near the hospital entrance with Tsubomi Kido and her Concealing Eyes, to grab Hibiya. After some confrontation, Hibiya suddenly faints. Kido catches him and tells the other that Hibiya has gained an eye ability, so it's best that they all, including Konoha, go to the Mekakushi Dan hideout. There, Kido cooks everyone dinner, and Konoha falls asleep on a couch shortly afterwards. Shintaro and Ene briefly discuss him, with Ene telling Shintaro that she will tell him whom Konoha reminds her of in the future. At some point during the night, Konoha falls off the couch and continues sleeping on the floor while moving towards the front door.

August 16th

Kido struggles to wake Konoha until she sets the table and calls for breakfast. Konoha greatly enjoys her cooking, to which Kido, in satisfaction, gives him a big serving of seconds. Konoha did not talk much in lieu of eating, but he pays attention when the conversation turns to Marry's past and she tells them that her mother, Shion was seemingly taken away by men over a hundred summers ago. While Shintaro and Kido process this information, Konoha suggests going to Marry's home to find out more about the situation. The others agree, and Konoha asks if finding more about Marry's family can help save Hiyori.

Marry packs a lot of supplies, which Konoha carries on his back while carrying Marry with his arms during the two hour journey to her past home. On the way, he watches Shintaro vomit and, when they reach the cottage, expresses his concern for Shintaro. He asks again if this will help save Hiyori, and Shintaro replies that while they're not sure, it may help. Inside, Konoha immediately starts searching but gets distracted by a book with an illustration of a dragon in it. When Shintaro and Marry ask him to look for her mother's diary on the top of the bookshelves and outside, Konoha complies at top speed.

Konoha returns after being unable to locate the diary only to find that the others found it indoors, which he accepts. He gathers around Shintaro as he reads the diary, which tells of Azami's story, the Snake of Clearing Eyes, and the creation of the Kagerou Daze. When Shintaro suggests that Azami, Marry's grandmother, is the cause of the Mekakushi Dan's situation with their eye abilities, Marry gets so upset that she storms outside the cottage. Konoha follows Marry outside, though they get separated.

When Konoha later sees Shintaro fall into a ravine that borders the cottage, Konoha jumps after him and saves Shintaro but is fatally impaled by a tree branch upon impact. Shintaro sees Konoha and asks why he would save someone like him, and Konoha faintly replies that it's because they're friends. Shintaro, subconsciously able to remember Awakening Eyes because of his Retaining Eyes, silently begs Konoha's ability to save him. Konoha passes before Awakening Eyes activates, and black snakes come out of his wound and surround him as his body reassembles itself.

Konoha recovers, gets the two out of the ravine, and presumably carries the supplies and Marry back down the mountain. When they return to the hideout, Konoha and Shintaro go out so the latter can buy the two sodas from a nearby vending machine. Konoha never had soda before, and he enjoys it, which greatly satisfies Shintaro. The two then return to the hideout, and Konoha gives his shirt to Marry to fix the large hole created by the tree branch.
