Ikuno Dictus is a Umamusume character inspired by the real-life racehorse, Ikuno Dictus. In the franchise, she first appeared in the Season 2 anime as a member of Team Canopus. In the game, she originally appeared as a support card and later became playable in February 2024, making all four original Canopus members available. In real life, the horse Ikuno Dictus was born April 16, 1987, known for her toughness and for running 51 races without injury, earning the nickname “Iron Lady”. She lived until 2019 and was loved by fans.
Her greatest skill is her management and organization. Ikuno is always prepared and avoids unnecessary risks to prevent injuries. In the game, she is a strong front-runner or stalker horse who can handle any race distance, but her training schedule is extremely busy, especially in her senior year. Her unique “Iron Will” app gives advice for management and training goals.
Ikuno shares a room with Mejiro McQueen at the Ritto Dormitory, and they often study together. McQueen thinks very highly of Ikuno, calling her diligent and caring. She is close with her Canopus teammates, especially Nice Nature, Twin Turbo, and Matikanetannhauser. She also gets along well with Marvelous Sunday, even adapting to her odd behavior. Other friends include Biwa Hayahide and Zenno Rob Roy with whom she made a magazine together.
- The number of braids in her hair is always exact.
- She is bad at eating hamburgers.
- She is always the moderator at family meetings.
- Her ear fur is always perfectly equal on both sides.
- In the game, people usually call her “Ikuno,” but nicknames are not always the same in the anime.
“One or two, it's all about management. That way we can reduce the risk of injury.”
“I am Ikuno Dictus. Leave the management up to me. I will keep everything in order with iron will.”
“Go for it! Turbo!!”
Anime: Umamusume: Pretty Derby Season 2
Ikuno appears in Episode 2 as the third member of Team Canopus, led by Nice Nature. She discusses many complicated plans to aim for the top but often simply says “run a lot and get stronger!”, which makes Tokai Teio laugh awkwardly. She closely watches Teio’s races and sometimes ignores the actual meetings to do it. In Episode 4, she faces off against Tokai Teio in the Osaka Cup, using a leading tactic but cannot beat Teio, finishing fourth. However, Ikuno gets second place in both the Yasuda Kinen and Takarazuka Kinen in Episode 9, showing her strong racing skills. She usually speaks in polite, formal speech but cheers especially loud for Turbo in Episode 10. She also shows a fun, active side, for example lifting Turbo in the air and joking around with friends.

Ikuno was first added as an SR Support Card on March 18, 2021, together with Mejiro Palmer. She became a playable character on February 24, 2024 as a ★★ character. In the main story Part 2, she is interviewed for a Queen Umamusume special. She says she does not stand out as much as other famous characters but is proud of her management abilities and the idea of running for a long time and winning as much as possible.
Her training in the game is very tough – in senior year, she has to run in 13 big races! She gains a special “Iron Challenger” status after her debut to help with stats during certain races. She is best played in teams that focus on speed, since her boost goes to guts and wisdom. She often works with Mejiro McQueen in the dorm and is strangely good friends with Marvelous Sunday, even joining her in “Marvelous Space” without any trouble.
Solo Song
Her solo song is “Excellent Condition”, written by Cocoro and composed by Kijibato from Dream Monster. The song is techno-style and stylish, talking about balancing life, dreams, and management, while running forward with all her might.
