Because of this, he has earned the trust of the students and is especially respected by Takahiro Mizuno, who sees him as a reliable advisor.
The man often remarks that Takahiro Mizuno reminds him of his own younger days, and in every route of the story, he offers advice to Takahiro. When Takahiro is in a relationship with someone, the man gently offers kind, grandfatherly words, displaying a particular fondness for Takahiro.
He is also fond of chess and sometimes plays matches with Kyle or Lisa Eostre, but his actual skill has not improved much and is on the same level as Kyle's.
In "More&More," it is revealed that he is an old friend of Ayako Hiiragi's grandfather. The two of them are depicted sharing drinks while discussing horses and jousting. It is also shown that Takahiro Mizuno has long been aware of the friendship between Ayako's grandfather and James Asmussen.
