Kamado Nezuko

The heroine of the story, aged 12 to 14 years old, goes from a height of 150 to 153 cm and a weight of 39 to 45 kg. She is Tanjirou's younger sister and the eldest daughter of the Kamado family. When she was human, she was kind-hearted and attentive to her family, never behaving selfishly.

During Tanjirou's absence, she is attacked by the demon Muzan Kibutsuji, and survives by becoming a demon when his blood mixes with her wounds. Even as a demon driven by instinct to attack Tanjirou when he tries to help, her tears and his desperate pleas show she is different from typical demons, and she is spared. Subsequently, she has a bamboo gag attached and is in a state of mental haze.

One of her demonic abilities is that she can adjust her height. Normally, to avoid sunlight, she makes herself smaller and is carried in a box by Tanjirou, but she fights with kicks by returning to her normal size during battles. Her Blood Demon Art "Exploding Blood" awakens during a fight with the demon Rui, inspired by a deep subconscious encounter with her deceased mother.

Usually showing some demonic instincts like disliking sunlight and often appearing distracted, she becomes active when Tanjirou is in danger or is strongly called upon. Hypnotized by Urokodaki, she sees humans as family and demons as enemies. While the craving for human blood remains, she forcibly suppresses it with her strong will, but Muzan's blood within her sometimes responds, making her grow as large as an adult woman with horns on her right temple and leaf-like patterns across her body, awakening combat abilities close to that of the Upper Rank demons, but also increasing her hunger for humans. After a fierce battle against the Upper Rank demons in the Swordsmith Village, she overcomes sunlight and starts speaking in broken sentences.

Urokodaki notes that, unlike normal demons who gain energy from human blood, Nezuko substitutes it with sleep. Her physical regeneration is slower than typical demons, but as she progresses in her transformation, she surpasses even the Upper Rank Six demon Daki, able to regenerate by fusing her blood and pulling her severed limbs back. It is hypothesized by Tamayo that Nezuko's properties as a demon altered during two years of initial sleep.

Initially less expressive, Nezuko later shows richer emotions, like headbutting a sleeping Tanjirou wanting to be petted or being pleased when petted by Kanroji.

Having overcome the sun post-fight, she becomes key to revealing Muzan, entrusted to Urokodaki and later turned back into a human through joint research by Shinobu and Tamayo. In the final battle, she desperately calls out to Tanjirou, who had become the "King of Demons," helping him turn back into a human. Eventually, she returns home with Tanjirou, Zenitsu, and Inosuke, and finally accepts Zenitsu's feelings.

Exploding Blood

Nezuko's Blood Demon Art. She can voluntarily cause her blood to combust. Awakened during the battle against Lower Rank Five demon Rui, it can burn or enhance strikes with explosive force, targeting only what she desires to burn. This ability even allows her to purify poison generated by the Blood Demon Art of her enemies, saving the critically poisoned Uzui Tengen. Since it consumes her blood, the source of a demon's power, it cannot be frequently used. Normally, Nezuko would need to consume humans to enhance her demonic powers for such an Art, but she has managed to draw it out through sheer willpower alone.
