Lana is the daughter of a wealthy merchant who was granted a barony for his contributions to the development of his city.

Despite being looked down on as “vulgar nouveau riche,” she is bright, social, and deeply devoted to Monica Everett, the quiet transfer student she befriends.

After graduation, she plans to establish her own trading company in the kingdom’s premier port city, Southndor, specializing mainly in magical tools.

She also intends to expand into various other products, including practical yet cute robes for magicians, which she specifically wants Monica to wear.

Lana was born shortly after her father received the baron title as recognition for helping develop his town.

From early childhood she was surrounded by the finest luxuries and the latest fashionable dresses, leading outsiders to call her a “fortunate young lady.”

However, because her family’s nobility was very new, she actually interacted more with commoners than with old noble families.

Dressed in overly extravagant clothes, she stood out and was often criticized as “showing off her wealth,” spending many days feeling lonely.

She was not completely isolated, though.

She had an older childhood friend, four years her senior, with whom she had a promise of future marriage.

Hoping that a school full of noble children would give her peers closer to her social status, she enrolled at Serendia Academy.

Instead, in this tradition-bound, status-conscious academy, she was dismissed as “a tasteless, nouveau riche baron’s daughter” because her family’s title was so recent.

One day, partly out of whim and partly to soothe her pride, she reached out to transfer student Monica Norton (actually Monica Everett), who was also socially adrift.

What began as a prideful attempt to “take care of someone” gradually turned into genuine affection and a deep bond of friendship.

Lana is outgoing, lively, and confident, with a strong sense of pride and a natural tendency to fuss over people.

Thanks to her merchant family background, she has a good eye for quality, is strong with numbers, and maintains broad connections through commercial networks.

Her first crush was, amusingly, her own father back when he was slim and stylish.

As a child she would earnestly declare, “I’m going to marry Father!”

Lana’s strengths shine most in practical, social, and aesthetic fields rather than pure academia.

She can play the piano as part of her upbringing and education.

Relationship with Monica Everett

As Lana keeps taking care of her and Monica responds with genuine smiles and gratitude, Lana is gradually won over.

Within about three months of their first meeting, they become each other’s only true friend, in a bond that resembles that of very close sisters.

Monica’s familiar, Nero, later notes that the name Monica said most often in her dorm room was “Lana.”

Nero, who rarely remembers people’s names, remembers Lana’s name precisely because Monica said it so frequently.

At one point, Monica reveals a heavy secret, fully prepared to be hated for it.

Lana is hurt that Monica did not trust her enough to confide in her sooner, but despite her anger she is the first to speak to Monica and reconcile, reaffirming their strong bond.

Lana also actively supports Monica’s love life.

She carefully observes the complicated human relationships around Monica but always prioritizes Monica’s feelings and wishes above all else.

Other Friends and Connections

Through Monica, Lana becomes acquainted with several other students from different classes.

One of her pet projects is designing cute, practical robes for magicians that balance functionality with stylish visuals.

Her ultimate goal with these robes is delightfully personal: she wants to dress Monica up in them.

For Lana, combining business ambition with “making Monica adorable” is a perfectly natural and desirable outcome.

Lana loves to boast about what she considers wonderful—whether it is clothes, sweets, magical items, or people like Monica.

This tendency comes from a mixture of pride, insecurity about her background, and a genuine desire to share what she loves with others.

Her upbringing as a new noble surrounded by luxuries but lacking true understanding from others left her with a complex about her origins.

She tries to fill that emotional gap by taking care of people and having them happily accept her help.

For Monica, who struggles with self-worth and self-expression, Lana’s shine is incredibly valuable.

Monica sees Lana’s “showing off” as something warm and dazzling, and she loves Lana for the way she lights up when talking about her favorite things.

Interestingly, Lana mirrors Monica’s former friend Barney Jones in several ways.

Both were the first to extend a hand to Monica, both share complicated feelings about their own origins, and both tried to fill that void by taking care of Monica and enjoying her appreciation.

The crucial difference is in how they responded to Monica’s talent.

Barney was consumed by inferiority and ultimately rejected her, while Lana felt proud of Monica’s abilities, and that pride solidified their enduring friendship.

Lana’s body at age twelve was roughly the same size as Monica’s at sixteen years and nine months.

More precisely, a corset Lana used when she was twelve fits Monica perfectly.

Among the characters in “Secrets of the Silent Witch,” Lana is one of the only two characters whose birthday is explicitly revealed in the print version.

The other is Monica Everett.

In the web version of the story, only the general time frame of Monica’s and Claudia’s birthdays was known.

Their exact dates, including Lana’s, were later clarified in a newly written after-story in volume 4, which depicts Monica’s birthday party and reveals both Monica’s and Lana’s birthdays.
