Ken Usato

Ken Usato is an ordinary high school boy with nothing special about his looks. He blends in easily, which is why his amazing magic skills surprise people even more.

Ken has a laid-back and somewhat lazy personality. He thinks life would be simpler if he could use magic. Deep inside, Ken is very stubborn and hates losing. When he becomes serious in a fight, his face turns scary and intense, which even his friends notice.

Ken often gets called "crazy," "monster," or "devil" by his friends because of how he handles tough training and uses magic in weird ways. Despite these names, Ken is caring and doesn’t like hurting others, only fighting to protect his friends.

Ken was just a normal second-year high school student before his sudden adventure. He was accidentally summoned into another world along with his classmates Kazuki Ryusen and Suzune Inukami. During a test in the new world, Ken learns he can use healing magic, which is rare but not unknown there.

He joins the Rescue Squad, a group that uses healing magic to help others. Ken’s way of thinking is special, and he comes up with new ways to use his magic that nobody has ever tried before. These ideas could be used with other types of magic, but most people can’t understand them.

Healing Magic

Ken’s magic can heal wounds and cure sickness. It’s a precious skill, but what really makes Ken different is how he invents unusual ways to use it.

Unconventional Uses of Healing Magic

• Always-On Healing: Ken learns to cover his whole body with healing magic all the time. This makes his training harder, lets him heal damage instantly like a shield, and helps him use burst strength. Only Ken, Rose, and Rose’s student can do this.
• Healing Punch: Taught to him by Rose, this attack uses a magic-charged fist. When Ken hits someone, their injury heals immediately but the pain and shock remain, often knocking them out. This also saves his hands from being hurt in fights.
• Healing Magic Shot: Ken invents a way to throw healing magic like a ball because he can’t simply shoot magic from his hands. The ball has no real weight, but somehow Ken can throw it. This can heal from far away or stun enemies with impact.
• Healing Magic Burst Palm: This is a risky move where Ken makes his healing magic explode on purpose, usually to escape or block attacks. However, it can make his injuries unhealable for a short time, so he doesn’t use it often.

Combat

Ken’s fighting style is all about healing magic mixed with hand-to-hand combat. He can power up through training and keep going even when he’s hurt by rapidly healing himself.

Familiars

Ken uses Blurin, a monster called a Blue Grizzly, and Nea, who usually takes the form of an owl, as his animal partners.

Ken’s closest friends are Kazuki Ryusen and Suzune Inukami, who were also summoned to the new world. He is trained by Rose, the tough leader of the Rescue Squad, and becomes her only trainee able to survive her extreme lessons.

Accidentally Summoned

Ken was not supposed to go to another world. He was caught in the summoning spell for Kazuki Ryusen and Suzune Inukami and ended up there by accident.

Discovery of Healing Magic

He takes a magic test and discovers his rare talent in healing magic. Because of this talent, he joins the Rescue Squad and begins to learn under Rose’s strict guidance.

Changing Healing Magic

Ken’s creative ideas make everyone see healing magic differently. He invents new ways to fight and protect others, mixing healing magic with powerful moves. Many can’t understand his logic, so only a few can follow his methods.

Surviving the Impossible

Ken survives Rose’s harsh training—something no one else has ever done. This makes people call him crazy names, but also helps Ken improve his skills quickly.

Fighting for Friends

Even though Ken finds fighting scary, he pushes through for his friends and people who need help. His determination, odd fighting style, and kind heart make him stand out in the world.

• Because Ken is called a devil, some people believe that real evil spirits no longer get the negative feelings meant for them.

Ken’s favorite skills are copying Rose’s face and using healing magic for fighting. He is proud of being the only person to finish Rose’s training.
