Chihiro's mother. 35 years old. Like her husband Akio, her name is not revealed in the story. When they wandered into the mysterious town, she started eating without permission before her husband and was turned into a pig along with him. Although she is sometimes bewildered by her somewhat selfish husband, she subtly supports him. While she often acts dryly towards her daughter Chihiro, she does have a parental side that worries and cares for her. Like her husband, she eventually returned to her original form but does not remember the time she spent as a pig. The model for her character is a woman working in the Ghibli publishing department. The voice recording for the meal with her husband was done while actually eating Kentucky Fried Chicken prepared by Hayao Miyazaki.
