Initially, he was strict with Usopp, but came to recognize him after the Klahadore incident. His birthday is January 22. He did not believe Usopp's story revealing Klahadore's true identity and the plan to assassinate Kaya, and chased him away. However, that night, Klahadore revealed his true nature and attacked him, leaving him seriously injured. He later recovered and handed over the Going Merry to Luffy and his crew.
