A retainer of the Uesugi clan. Originally a survivor of the Nagao family, which had fallen from power after being defeated in the power struggles of the Kamakura shogunate. Having fallen into poverty, he was taken in by Norikane Uesugi and became a human experiment subject. Even after being administered drugs, he maintained his consciousness with his strong mental fortitude, earning praise as "good material" from Uesugi. He engages in combat with Kojirō at Kodetsukabara. By 1337, still serving under Uesugi for the Northern Court, he had gained a more resilient body and became one of the leading samurai of the Kanto Ashikaga faction.
