She is serious and polite, but also naturally exudes a sadistic personality (as people tend to say). She has beautiful long black hair (purple in color in the colored pages of the manga and the anime), but due to its fine texture, it is prone to static electricity, so she always keeps it tied up. Though she is hardworking, her clumsiness often leads her to overdo things and fail. Furthermore, she has no ill intentions but struggles with social interactions, due to her awkwardness, naturally stern expression, and tendency to speak in a sadistic manner, which leads to misunderstandings and difficulty in securing a part-time job, something that troubles her greatly. However, Dino fell in love with her at first sight, including her personality, and recruited her as a sadistic character at his café. Maika, too, admires Dino's smooth blonde hair for reasons mentioned later. As time goes by, she begins to notice Dino as a member of the opposite sex and finds it cute and fun when the taller Dino gets flustered by her jokes (Mafuyu mentioned she has a knack for sadism upon hearing this). Her family includes her father (voiced by Fumihiko Tachiki), her mother (voiced by Ai Kakuma), and her older siblings (mentioned later). Her home is a grand Japanese-style mansion. The strong Japanese cultural environment, with traditional clothing and food, led her to become fascinated with foreigners when her father invited one home when she was five, igniting her desire to study abroad, which is why she started looking for part-time jobs. In the final episode set four years later, she goes to Italy and marries Dino.
