Once a renegade, she is respected by the islanders for her role in protecting Hancock and others. Although a small old woman, she possesses high physical abilities, surviving falls from great heights without injury. In her youth, she was tall and considered a great beauty. Luffy calls her "Granny" and "Bean Granny". Her birthday is February 4th. Once afflicted with love sickness, she abandoned her country despite being an empress and ventured out to sea, but was allowed to return home by the mercy of the previous empress. She was a member of the Rocks Pirates and participated in the God Valley Incident 38 years ago. 15 years ago, while living in the Sabaody Archipelago, she found the Gorgon sisters lost and freed from slavery by the Celestial Dragons, and with the help of Rayleigh and Shakuyaku, she protected them and brought them back to the island.
