When he reunited with Yoshimatsu after a long time, he was criticized for not utilizing Chisato's talent for killing. He struggles with the conflict between Yoshimatsu's expectations and Chisato's belief in helping others and adhering to a creed of "valuing life" by not killing. In the final episode, he delivers the finishing blow to the severely injured Yoshimatsu, takes the artificial heart, disposes of the message card Yoshimatsu wrote for Chisato, and has Chisato undergo surgery without informing her of Yoshimatsu's death.
