Edgar J. C. Ashenbert
爱德格・J・C・艾歇尔巴顿 エドガー・J・C・アシェンバート
Gender:Male
Age 20 → 23. A young man with striking beauty characterized by his glowing blonde hair and ash-mauve eyes. He possesses the grace of a noble, along with refined conversation skills and manners, garnering attention within London's high society. Yet, once within an organization, his intelligence and overwhelming presence help him emerge as a charismatic leader. Due to his harsh experiences during childhood, he sometimes exhibits a cold side, but he is naturally optimistic and innocent like a child. His rightful position and title: Edgar Leland, the rightful heir of the Silvanford Dukedom and the Marquess of Moulding. As someone carrying the blood of a fallen royal family, he was secretly targeted as a suitable successor by the head of a dark organization, the "Prince" (mentioned later), who aimed to reclaim the throne. At the age of 13, his mansion was attacked overnight, resulting in him losing everything (publicly, it was handled as if the whole family perished in a mansion fire, leaving the Duke's position vacant). He was kidnapped to America, where he endured several years of severe abuse and brainwashing intended to prepare him as the next “Prince.” Eventually, he managed to escape the organization with several companions, including the siblings Armin and Raven. Though he lost many comrades during their escape, he managed to form a gang, amass funds, and, evading the organization’s pursuit, successfully returned to his homeland of Britain after many years. In Britain, he set his sights on becoming the head of the Earl of Ashenbert (Earl of Iblis), which had been without a head for 300 years, and aimed to obtain the "Merrow Treasure Sword," a proof of said title. He contacted Lydia, a fairy doctor, to achieve this. With her help, he was recognized as an Earl. However, not being an actual blood relative, Edgar does not possess the capability to interact with fairies, leading him to forcibly hire Lydia. The title of “Blue Knight” belongs to the first Earl and isn’t an official title in Britain, but it’s widely known among fairies. Edgar had many relationships with women but avoided forming special bonds. However, meeting Lydia, who earnestly tried to save him despite knowing his cold side, caused him to rapidly become attracted to her. His inherent womanizing and excessive expressions of affection have since been focused solely on Lydia, becoming widely known. Edgar himself treasures Lydia deeply, seeing his harsh past as just a path that led him to her. To prevent the power inheritance of "Prince," Edgar infiltrated the organization. When Lydia was suddenly endangered, he had no choice but to absorb the core of the Prince’s magical power (Freya), which he had intended to destroy, into himself. Although this made him an incomplete “Prince” as he retained his consciousness, he sought power to protect Lydia from the mixed enemies, risking coming closer to the dormant “Prince of Calamity” within the core. Determined to secure a happy future with Lydia, he decided to break the seal and fight, also secretly carrying poison for self-destruction to tackle worst-case scenarios, intent on bearing all burdens himself. Posing as a cruel Prince and dealing internal damage to the organization, Edgar reached the brink of the fairyland's collapse alongside Lydia. Using the power of a ruby to save this land, the “Prince of Calamity” was thereby resealed, but Edgar lost ten years’ worth of memories involving the Prince and Lydia. Having forgotten Lydia, he discovered a painting of the fairy queen resembling her (commissioned by Edgar and painted by Paul) in an abandoned room, evoking a sense of fulfillment. However, Lydia suppressed his memory restoration with the power of a star sapphire. As the memories resurfaced more vividly, he regained complete memories when Alvin extracted the arrow of power from a dragon’s head. Prioritizing Lydia and Alvin’s protection thereafter, he anonymously spread rumors incriminating Bishop Chamberlain as a demon worshipper, using the "Red Moon" and other tactics for attacking. During his battle with Alvin in the Tower of London, recognizing Alvin’s intention when secretly given fire agate, he transferred the Prince's magical power to Alvin. Following the resolution of the mysteries surrounding the bloodstone by Lydia, both the Prince's and the onyx's magical powers vanished, allowing Edgar to succeed in his initial goal of fortifying the barrier using red moonstone, the treasure sword’s arrow, and fire agate. After the incident at the Tower of London, Edgar was granted the Silvanford Dukedom as his rightful title. The Queen promised to grant the Earl of Ashenbert title to his future child if he reverted to the Leland surname. Since this would change the earldom to the Leland family, Edgar used the records of both ancestors, Julius Ashenbert and a Leland, disappearing during a voyage and the unspoken rule of proving the Earl with only the treasure sword to fabricate a suitable lineage. He convinced them to keep the Ashenbert name and inherit the Dukedom. Post-story, although he inherited the Silvanford Dukedom with the Ashenbert surname, the estate had been mostly burned down except for the hunting lodge due to the previous fire. The gate to the cemetery lying his parents and ancestors had been sealed, but eventually, after various trials, he managed to build a new mansion at the site of the old castle and reclaim the key to the cemetery gate.
