Prince Moriyoshi, the son of Emperor Go-Daigo. He inherited his father's wisdom, cleverness, and leadership ability, and excelled in martial arts and military strategy. Although he collaborated with the Ashikaga during the overthrow of the shogunate, his father valued Takauji Ashikaga over him. Sensing the danger posed by Ashikaga, he attempted to remove him, but all efforts ended in failure. Eventually, he lost the political struggle and was imprisoned in Kamakura. After Ashikaga Tadayoshi's failure to defend Kamakura during the Nakasendai Rebellion, he was ultimately killed by Yoshibumi Fuchibe under the instructions of Takauji Ashikaga.
